YES, you should make a sequel. I loved Hatsumomo's shrewd, BAMF-ish personality and the writing choices you made to neither glorify or vilify her. And I'd love to see how she adapts to the future in the possible sequel. Thank you for writing this.

This was very well done. I like how you neither glorified nor demonized Hatsumomo, but presented who she was in a frank and straightforward manner that elicited empathy, if not sympathy. It is poignant to see how, after a loveless childhood, she was so desperate for security that her instinct was to destroy anyone she perceived as a threat to her position. She is not a nice or trustworthy person, but her strength, cunning, and persistence to endure are compelling - in these, she reminds me of Scarlett O'Hara from Gone with the Wind. The ending is thoroughly depressing, but she reaped what she sowed. If you write a sequel, I look forward to reading it.

I read Memoirs of a Geisha recently and finished the first chapter of this, but I'm scratching my head over the beginning of the second chapter. I was expecting the mistress to burn the letter to ensure that no one found it. Locking it away seems a bit unrealistic...

I would love to read the sequel if you still have the inspiration for it? personally, i absolutely ADORED bruised peach. it's one of the very few fanfictions that are on par with the original source material.

some of your chapters have her name as "Chiyo" instead of "Chihiro". Just thought you'd like to know that, even if it's been how many years.

Hello! I know you ended this piece quite a while ago, but I need to tell you how much I absolutely loved it. It's beyond fantastic, I've read it 3 or 4 times! I never get tired of it, and whenever I miss it, I search it up and come back to read it once more. I would (and I'm sure a lot of other people, too) LOVE it if you made a sequel! I've never been so interested in a fanfic before yours, and I probably won't find one that I like better. Your writing style is captivating, and your characters are alluring. You make an amazing story teller, please please write a sequel!

What about Hatsumomo's sister? The book briefly says she had one.

I am almost finished with this story and I have never been more invested in a story than yours. This has got to be one of the most well written stories that I have read in a long time. Memoirs of a Geisha is one of my personal favorites that I've read quite a lot, the fact that you have stayed so true to the story, tied up the lose ends, and captured the tone of the story so well... my hat is off to you my friend, well done!

Wow...just WOW. I never thought I'd ever feel sorry for Hatsumomo, but as I began to read the last chapters, I couldn't help but dread the ending I knew was coming. In MoaG, she was just an antagonist that you wanted to see BURN for the way she treated others, especially Seiyurin. But here... I may hate her methods, but all in all, she was just another geisha trying to survive and become worth something. In this respect her story is a lot like Seiyurin's- only Hatsumomo didn't have someone like the Chairman watching over her. She had to claw and scrape to become the Geisha she was. There's a kinder side of her here, one that felt guilt for the way she betrayed Hatsouki and genuinely cared about her apprentices' success.

You still manage to keep Hatsumomo in character. She is a woman who relied on destroying others to stay on top, and when she no longer had the power to keep her enemies at bay, her past came back to haunt her in the worst way. But now it's much more tragic, because the reader sees how she got that way and where she's coming from. You handled the transformation from starry-eyed maid, to crafty and ruthless apprentice, to "the empress of Gion", and finally to defeated prostitute perfectly. I can't wait to read your sequel!
