CoronaCrown chapter 9 . 2/11/2017
I LOVE THIS JUST AS MUCH AS I LOVED ANASTASIA but I kinda wish the ballroom scene from Once Upon A December was included BUT IT WAS STILL A GREAT STORY AND PERFECTLY EXECUTED OMG
Rosa Mortem chapter 9 . 6/22/2014
AWWW I love it.
The Gone Angel chapter 9 . 4/29/2014
This is one of the most greatest stories ever. I laughed, I cried, and I smiled through every single chapter as I felt the pain that Merlin had and their amusing banter in the earlier chapters. I wish there was a sequel - and there might already be one - but despite that, this is a beautiful story and I'm glad you put so much effort into it. I can tell. :)

Cheers,
Gone
EccentricFox chapter 9 . 1/1/2014
While it was wonderfully written, I had hoped that it would deviate more from the film plot. If I had never watched the movie, this truly would have been a joy. Since I have watched 20th Century Fox's, 'Anastasia', countless times over the years and am very familiar with the story, I was a little disappointed over the adherence to the major plot points to the film version. It wasn't so upsetting that I found it difficult to read (that's happened before when I've read other fictions based on beloved childhood animated features) and you have a lovely style of writing; it really carried the story but perhaps some 'facts' from the original 'Anastacia' legend/history would have solidified the narrative and brought more authenticity and originality into play.

I was also rather puzzled by the supporting characters' acceptance of homosexual relationships within your fiction. I have no doubt that such relationships occurred and I'm sure the nobility were as likely to engage in homosexual relationships as commoners would have - if not more so. However, in that time period, it would not have been an outwardly accepted practice; in most places, it would have been very much illegal and considered an affront to god.

In that case, I think the story should have departed from the film version especially, because the romance between the two would not be considered acceptable - except by a marginal few - and certainly not by Prince Uther.

I could easily accept a secret love affair between Arthur and Merlin. Hell, I could even buy Gaius being supportive of Merlin since they've been companions for years and I also believe the Gwen/Morgana dynamic is entirely plausible, but people would not have publicly come out and offered their support for such a union. They would have been considered "very good friends", unable to be open about the nature of their relationship or they would draw censure, disapproval and even may have faced the possibility of being institutionalised in order to 'treat' their 'condition'.

What I really liked about this story is how well Arthur, Merlin, Gaius and Gwen maintained their personalities throughout. At no point did I think your characterisations had strayed too far from canon (the whole gay thing notwithstanding) and I liked that you incorporated snippets of Nimueh's dialogue from the episodes.

The thing I'm most grateful for, was not including the animals, talking or otherwise. While I loved Bartok, he would have been very much out of place in this story and you made the right decision not including him. Oh and the singing. I love the songs dearly, but they really don't fit into a novel quite so well :P.

I was expecting/hoping that Merlin would have magic, but I suppose that may have complicated the plot, though it would have added another layer to the narrative, even if it meant extending the story beyond nine chapters. But it's not a huge thing to overlook, really.

You've taken a great deal of care and attention with this story and it really shows. I note you did some research, and I did catch your note saying that it wasn't historically accurate, but overall you've done really well.

I've read so many stories lately (I've been reading non-stop over the Christmas break) and few have bothered to engage a beta. I like that you have, it's really ensured that the story is well presented and polished.

As I've said, it's beautifully written, which is why I can forgive the fact that it sticks so faithfully to the movie version and despite my criticisms, I did have fun reading it. Well done.

This is adorable. I've never read/watched/whatever format it's in Anastasia, because the summary is kind of worrying, but I really liked your other Merlin fics and decided to read this and I am so, so glad I did. Thank you!
Veneya chapter 9 . 7/3/2013
Omg...I honestly loved this...great...I think you managed to capture their feelings towards the end very well
Munku-JGSPTV chapter 9 . 2/13/2012
At first I wasn't going to read this fic; the summary didn't draw me in and I don't really know My Fair Lady, but then I clicked and read and am so glad I did! I love Anastasia, and thought it was hilarious but great that you made the dog Gwen. :D I think you did a good job of adjusting the characters, although I half wished it was still set in fictional Camelot land and somehow Merlin could have had magic but anyway... Brilliant fic! Definitely goes on my recommendations. (I really should start making a proper list for that)
Jammeke chapter 9 . 5/29/2011
Goodness, this story is so beautiful. I very much enjoyed reading it. Your characterization was wonderful and the plot was brilliant. So much depth; so much backstory, so many motives.

This story shall "keep me smiling" for some time to come. ;)
