This is so well-written. Disturbing, dark and absolutely thrilling. I was supposed to be doing chores all day but I can’t put my phone down long enough. Your characterization is brilliant, especially with L. It’s like you’re scratching an itch I had since finishing the series. An itch that begged the question “If L and Light were so similar, couldn’t L be capable of the crimes Light committed? And would that be so bad?” Thank you for providing one potential look at that dichotomy. I can’t wait to finish this fic, and immediately start it again. Well done!

This story was disturbing on quite a few levels. I didn’t quite know how to feel when I finished it, though I just kept thinking about it and had to come back and put it in my favorites. I Love L, and to read him the way he was protrayed in your story shook me up to be completely honest. Though I know the author of the manga did say L,was supposed to be a tad evil. It was a wonderful thought provoking story that I know I will be reading again some day. Will be checking out your other stories tonight. :o)

Actually, six months after Yostuba, Matt would be fifteen. His fifteenth birthday was three months after L's death in canon.

The ending is a bit bittersweet for me. With the power imbalance between L and Kira, it still feels like L is taking advantage of him since he can't really say no (especially after all the conditioning). Nice story.

Awesome update- but why didn't kira write Near and Kei's names back in the school to avoid the whole car chase?

Generally speaking, people with the highest authority or preside over seeing the worst of humanity seem to have that in spades themselves, and L is coming off pretty sick/depraved on his own.

The contract is almost as scary as being declared legally insane though they are both especially horrible in their own ways and in hindsight not really that comparable. Thank you for your fortitude and efforts for this story to go as far as to ask your government teacher for help.
