Thanks for saving Amanda! And thanks for that lovely conversation between Spock Prime and Sarek. Nimoy's Spock is such a wonderful person; I'm glad that some version of Sarek has realized this and has allowed Spock to see that he realizes it.

I really needed to read this after the movie. This is everything I wanted but didn't know how to make happen; I'm taking this premise and running with it as fast and as far as I can. As far as I'm concerned, this actually happened after the first movie, and Amanda is alive but just keeping a low profile later.

And on another note - this was a fantastic look at Sarek and Spock, too. Those two undoubtedly have a lot to say to each other, and you tackled it wonderfully. I loved seeing Spock (older) discuss what he had lost, and I loved seeing Sarek and Spock (even if it's not his Spock) come to an accord even more.

PLUS AMANDA. (sorry, I just feel really strongly about this...)

I have never yet seen a story where someone has been able to bring back Amanda, so congratulations for finding a way!

Really enjoyed this! The exploration of Sarek's thoughts after the Nero incident was well done. And of course our brilliant crew should figure out a way to [SPOILER] rescue Amanda! Thank you.

Interesting dialogue, good characterization and well written.

It was also a sort of neat way to save Spock's mom-though it's a little creepy, too. It reminds me of a fic I read a while ago, where one of the characters-I think it was Bones, but I'm not sure-theorized that the way the transporters actually worked was they just replicated everything perfectly: destroying the original in the process. Or maybe it was from somewhere in canon that was then referenced by fanon? I can't really remember... but it's particularly noticeable in this case because Amanda's body was destroyed with the destruction of Vulcan: there's nothing to transport, thus this theory is given more credence. Though I, personally, would hope that beaming might be possible some day...
