i'm huge ancient Egyptian history buff so and can tell you they did have salt they used it for making the mummies and they used it for preserving food,

they actually may been the first people in history to perserve fish and meat using salt

I honestly feel bad for Vivian's child. If she actually has it. B/c all that stress can't be good for him/her. I fear for the little one's safety. Even if Vivian is a lying pyscho b***, the only one truely innocent in their whole scheme is that baby she's caring.
