This certainly works as a one-shot, but as many (most?) fanfics it is necessary to distinguish between exposition and story. There are zillion fanfics with at least interesting exposition (OK, so not only "what if Harry was a girl/has a sister"), but with none story. And story is the only thing which matters for anything longer than one chapter. Especially "what if Dudley has a witch" (surprisingly almost never a wizard) tend to get completely empty after the initial fun scene of the panic coming over Dudley from the receipt of the Hogwarts letter and almost inevitable frantic call (owl post) to Harry for help. And then what? I know really only about two Dudley-has-a-witch stories which have a good story line: Dursley's daughter/Dursley's Dilemma on Wattpad (unfortunately, still unfinished), and incredibly good (and depressive and paranoic) series of stories about Holly Wycliff on AO3 (yes, for reasons I have never understood all Dursleys for security reasons changed both their first names and the last name is Wycliff). But for both of these, the initial exposition of what-if-Dudley-has-a-witch is just start to an interesting story: the first one of just a plain coming-of-age and troubles-of-teenager story (and I really like “Stalky & Co.” so there is nothing wrong with that; on the top of it, Esther Dursley is a Hufflepuff and there are so few good Hufflepuff stories, if I, as a Ravenclaw, may say so). The second goes to completely different, highly original (she is an empath and there is a lot of weird and dark story about that) and good stuff. However, the point is, that for both them their exposition is just that. The exposition. Now, let's see what the story brings.

This one is very good. Dudley learns the most important lesson of fatherhood; no matter what your children turn out to be, just love them, care for them and help them any way you can.

I rather like this because it's so middle-ground. Neither Harry nor Dudley are at either extreme of how their respective positions could have turned out. Harry is resentful-enough that he can never be friends with Dudley, yet forgiving-enough not to be enemies. I do wonder how things would play out when he's filling in little Olivia on the wizarding world, though.

I like the idea that Dursley grows up to be better than his parents, and especially him having a witch for a daughter!

I found your Weasley Girl stories, and now I'm reading your other stories as well. Reading this one was slightly weird for me because I, completely independently, had an idea about a witch called Olivia Dursley who was the son of Dudley. Dudley took it a bit worse than in this fic, but nowhere near as badly as Vernon did. Also my Olivia was one year younger than your Olivia, putting her in the same year as Lily, but the similarities still shocked me.
Anyway... I love all your stories, especially Hermione's Guide To Gender-Flip FanFiction!

I enjoyed this very much . In canon though JK has stated that Dudley's kids wouldn't be magical as 'magic wouldn't stand a chance against Vernon's DNA ...' . It would be great to continue this story & Dudders finding out Olivia isn't his ... ;-)

I think this is a far more likely scenario than that other fic you mentioned. I dunno whether Dudley would actually wind up being better person than his parents or not, but I am quite sure, based off of how he was acting toward Harry by end and the sort of character development he'd been going through in the books, that he would wind up *not* being some sort of copy of them or reacting the same way to the wizarding world or if he had a witch or wizard child.
The idea of Dudley having magical children of his own though is definitely interesting. This was a sweet little read, I really enjoyed it :)

Maybe if you didn't have anything else to do you could add a chapter on Lily/Olivia's meeting or train journey, or them meeting the weasley family or something.

I loved this one shot. I like stories with Harry and Dudley reconciling after the war. And thank you for avoiding the shipping of the canon pretty much. I think this might be the only canon compliant (in regards to shipping) story that goes yo my favorites.

This was really well done. Loved it, especially how it's not just 'well i got better' sort of reasoning. And the line 'not enemies' was brilliant. Cheers.
