Well done
synethesiac chapter 1 . 8/31/2009
Oh, wow. This is some mighty powerful stuff.

It read just like the graphic novel in every way. Just perfect.

Would love some more? (Since you've pinned down Rorschach's character so well!)
BeautifulxxDisasterx chapter 1 . 4/8/2009
*waves* Hi! I've decided that this review is long overdue, and it's time I spazz-attacked you in review form. Prepare yourself. My reviews get...lengthy. xD

HOLY. FREAKING. CRAP. Seriously, best freaking thing evar in the history of evar. Like, for serious. As I was reading this, I felt like I was reading straight from the book, no joke. Rorschach is such a complex, fascinating, diverse character and you seriously brought him to life. His entire tone of voice in his journal entries and even when he's talking is complete monotone, choppy sentences that sort of makes people uncomfortable, that's what he is. And that is what you wrote in here. It's NOT an easy thing to do, but you did it exceptionally well. NO. WAY BETTER than exceptionally well. That was like flawless when it comes to Rorschach. Absolutely positively 100 percent flawless. And trust me, I look at anything Rorschach with such a critical eye it's insane. I mean, you know how much I love, adore, am obsessed with Rorschach! He's amazing! So dynamic and monotone, but he cares in his own Rorschach-y way. He has more to him than probably any other character I've ever read about. And you brought that through SO amazingly, marvelously, perfectly well. You even made sure that his certainty that the world is damned came through on more than one occasion. That's what he's all about, and he just wouldn't be Rorschach if that wasn't mentioned. But you made sure it was present, which is awesome. :D

OKAY! Favorite parts time! Woot!

First of all, just the entire, underlying theme of it all. The "Three, two, one. Like a ticking clock. Or maybe a timer. A countdown. Counting down what?" Freaking best opening ever, by the way. That was what set it all off, and then you elaborated on that, ended it with "Three, two, one. The end is nigh. And I walk alongside it." That was perfect. You tied it all together, which many fail to do. But I just loved the entire countdown theme to it, the three deaths, two murders, one birth, and them symbolizing the counting down to the end of the world, the Day of Reckoning, to Armageddon. Absolutely perfectly AWESOME idea.

Okay. I need to point out some lines here that really stood out to me.

"Opened Kovac's eyes after he closed them for the last time. My eyes now." OH. MY. GOSH. THAT WAS PERFECT! So Rorschach, so just...ah! I just get all giddy thinking about it again! Definitely an amazing line, my dear.

"Three, two, one. The end is night. And I walk alongside it. My name is Rorschach. Happy birthday to me." Best ending I think I have ever read, especially for a oneshot. It just stood out and was like BAM! It screamed Rorschach, and it was the absolute perfect way to close the journal entry. Just fantastic.

I also, by the way, loved that you added in there the little thing about how Armageddon doesn't change the fact that the good must be protected and the evil must be punished, nothing does. That was always one of my very favorite Rorschach lines in the whole book. It was highly subtle, the way you added it in, and I don't even know if you meant to or not, but it was there, and I loved it.

Basically, the entire thing was oozing with wonderful amazing Rorschach-ness. Which is just amazing. Because I get so happy and giddy every time I've read it. (Yes, I have read it more than once. Feel special. I've never done that before.) I see something new each time I read it, which is definitely a gift. I loved it, as you can tell. One of the best things I have ever read, story or (graphic) novel. All in all, this story is, most certainly, FTW. xD *feels cool*

ArmoredSoul chapter 1 . 3/16/2009
The loss of hope, of innocence, no matter how metaphorical it may seem, is still a death.

Perhaps an even worse one than the simple loss of life, in its own twisted way.
Twiggy Dahmer chapter 1 . 3/12/2009
I absolutely love this. I wish I could say that in a more articulate way, but I can't. It makes me happy that this is a one part story, those are my personal favorite, but I hope you continue to write for him, you seem to get the character.
Zillah 91 chapter 1 . 3/12/2009
Oh... me likey very much! I always wondered what went through his head after he "snapped"- I haven't seen the movie, and I understand they changed that scene somewhat, but it was AMAZING in the comics- put Rorschach right up there with my favs. Like the use of the fragmeted sentences too. Sounds just like I imagine him- I'll hopefully be seeing the movie tomorrow.

Nice work!
Nellodee chapter 1 . 3/12/2009
whoah. that was good. intense. as someone already noted, an interesting and unusual take on the roche case. its not often that a story make such a clear distinction between walter kovacs and rorschach. this sounds pretty close to how the character seems to feel by the time the GN begins. hope you write more. this story is fine as a one-shot, but you could try tackling other crucial moments or something altogether different. ill read it in any case.
Forbidden Amber chapter 1 . 3/11/2009
Absolutely fantastic! Love to way you've portrayed Rorschach here - same dark wit he writes with in the graphic novel.

Hope to see more.
soaringphoenix86 chapter 1 . 3/11/2009
This is awesome. Pure and simple. You have Rorschach down to a T! His mannerisms and thought process are well-ingrained into this fic. Please, consider doing more. Faithfully, soaringphoenix86
Electric Muse chapter 1 . 3/11/2009
This is amazing!

And, it actually made me think, just like the actual Watchmen graphic novel. Thank you so much for posting this! It's wonderfully written, and looks really well thought out.
StarscreamRox's chapter 1 . 3/11/2009
