I am not sure how I failed to see this story for so long. I came here to see if you'd posted an update to A Brother to Basilisks and when I saw there wasn't one I decided to reread an older story. But I didn't recognize this and realized I never read it.

Wow, it was so powerful and raw. The ending was profound and thought provoking.

This isn't my favorite among your stories, but I did enjoy it. Maybe it was just a bit too angsty for my taste. No telling. But it got better by the end. And those last lines were it. "And war left no survivors, but it might leave phoenixes./ And to be a phoenix is to burn."

A very intriguing story. An interesting way that Harry and Draco both dealt with their pain.

I cannot even explain how much I adored the last line, definitely one of my favourite one-shots!

Favourited! So, so that it wasn't guilt that was tripping Harry up - but actually his own suffering and pain for once. (So many fics seem focused on Harry's guilt-complex...) Draco was great in this. As always, your work is so good, Lomonaaeren!

i understood the end as if the phoenix lives, goes through a bad moment, which is when it burns, and then reborns, a new life, a new perspective. i think that Harry and Draco where burning, or still are until they put an end to the pain together and that's when they reborn. new life, new perspectives. very interesting fic, it made me think and focus, which i really like
