Aww poor JJ! That is a really serious weight to carry. I love this piece and the way you examine JJ's pain but also show her strength. The one line where she begs her legs to stay strong so she doesn't steal the moment is really great and so very JJ. Excellent!

Poor JJ. How awful it must be to have to be the one to choose which case to give to the team. Se does so need to talk to somebody or else she could have a breakdown. I do hope this becomes a longer story. It is so good.

You're back! Weird - I spent most of the last two days re-reading your old work and wondering why you'd stopped writing, and then I see you updated!

This was great, as usual. I think you kept it very in-character, and I could easily see JJ doing something like this. Would be great to expand upon, but it's good as a oneshot as well.

Really nice story. I know in the show we have seen JJ sorting through files, and Hotch acknowledges in one episode all of the cases she sees, but it is really nice to see how JJ feels/deals with it. Would love to read more if you were thinking of continuing!

Awesome. I’ve been searching for a good JJ POV fic since the beginning of summer, but this was well worth the wait.

Everything going on in JJ's head is so perfectly extrapolated from the show here. And her grief over a case she passed up is such a logical story for her character, and you've really done it painfully effectively. The idea that JJ just had to do *something* to deal with what happened and that it couldn't involve telling anyone else - that's so true to character. Something like needing to see those dogs rip that woman apart way back when. Something like all her other secrets (Will, the baby, the rest of her family) being kept for no other reason than because she’s in control when they’re hers alone.

I kept checking to see how close to the end of the document I was because I didn't want it to end. I could see and hear and feel that phone call to Garcia.

Also, loved the use of 'until Hotch grounds her'. Great phrase. Accurate, and yet totally playing with the family imagery. Garcia’s “Usually one talks by speaking” was a great bit, too. I can hear that.
