very good description of the action in the movie and i like the fact that there is a lot of insight on what Mary might have been thinking in the movie, which helps me a lot as a huge GP fan.

i came here looking strictly for info on a line in GP from this scene, trying to understand the meaning behind the whole "convent girl" exchange, as i never quite understood what elsie meant by that comment...as i've picked my brain over time and repeated viewings i thought maybe it had something to do with English/Scottish religious differences and maybe she was being a tiny bit catty, but i knew that was a stretch. this fanfic sums it up perfectly and insightfully. i'm glad that some people are more sensitive to nuance than i am, and god bless the internet!
