Okay, I don't really get why this isn't getting any reviews, because this is simply beautiful...

I think I'm in love with this story. It's so painful, and it really makes you feel for John and all the could-have-beens that were doubtless running through his head. Your characterization was perfect; this felt so *real*, especially John's thoughts as it all happened.

This line was my favorite, I think: 'At the center of his soul he heard himself dying.'

Great work, I'm definitely looking forward to more fics from you.
