Reviews for More Than Just Luck
LunaBianca chapter 1 . 3/10/2016
I adore this piece. "Like some kind of demonic breakfast cereal" is one of the best openings ever! LOL

The prose is really strong, describing the nearly psychedelic befuddlement from the curse and the jarring clarity after. The eerieness of Sam's wound is played well, not all the judgement up front. And I love the banter between Bella and Dean when he pretends to misunderstand the caveman reference.

Funny and touching and a damn fine read. :)
Fi Suki Saki chapter 1 . 1/25/2015
Oho, I LOVE this fic !

Thank you so much for published fic where Bela deserve get that fear and Dean get his money back ! xD

-

' "She should've killed me, man. But it wasn't my luck that affected her aim." He forced his eyes open to meet Dean's. "It was yours." '

I read that part for like, five times to made sure what it was mean. But I finally get it! Awesome !
NoilyPrat chapter 1 . 12/22/2014
ah, never thought of how lucky Sam was on what Bela hit - I like that it was Dean's luck that had Sam not being worse than he was.
Grinning over the fact of getting a new room .. yeah, one with a working a/c!
Like the fact Dean went back to make sure Bela knew not to mess with Sam, and to pick up the tickets. Although... thought maybe she'd cash them in already. No use waiting around, ya know? Then he'd just pick up cash. Winwin, either way.
EvelynCarver chapter 1 . 3/25/2014
I loved the interaction between the brothers, with Dean taking care of Sam. I'd wondered about Sam's shoulder injury before, but never considered that Dean's good luck may have been protecting Sam.

Nice bit with Bela at the end too. I really got the sense that Dean was totally willing to kill her if she hurt Sam again and she knew that. Shivers.
sapphireswimming chapter 1 . 4/2/2013
I really like how you explained the good luck versus bad in the scenario when Sam got shot. And the ending exchange between Dean and Bella is definitely something I think would have gone down just as you described.
JaniceC678 chapter 1 . 8/21/2012
Ahhhhhh...after watching BDABR for the umpteenth time, I decided to come looking for a fix for that ending. Yeah, it was light and humorous in the episode, but it always sort of bugged me that Dean did not react more to bursting through that door and finding Sam tied up, beaten, and about to be murdered. (And Sam SHOULD have been MORE beat up, IMO, but, hey, that's what fan fic is for, right?)

You not only finally got around to the emotional and physical aftermath, but also wove in an explanation for Dean's attitude. I LOVE it!

(And getting the lottery tickets back from Bela - awesome!)
ziggy.uk chapter 1 . 12/1/2011
Perfect. We never get to see this on the show and you wrote it just how I imagined it would be. Loved how Dean tended to Sam's bullet wound, and good job Sam was mostly out of it! Perfectly believable that he would pay Bella a visit and let her know that if she hurt Sam again he would kill her! And you had Dean writing in that notebook again, definitely for Sam once Dean's year is up, and depositing the lottery money in an account for Sam - wonderful!

Great episode and fantastic tag :)
Mystic25 chapter 1 . 4/11/2011
This was very...cute. I just saw this episode in reruns today, poor Sam. He looked like a quizzical puppy that kept catching stepping in fire ant hills...Loved how you wrote them both.
LaedieDuske chapter 1 . 11/24/2010
What an awesome big brother! Sam's heart will just melt when he finds out about the money, what a sweet thing to do.

As always, I really enjoy your writing. I liked that Dean was given a chance here to explain why he hadn't necessarily been quite so attentive during BDABR. Love to see the boys taking care of one another, really regardless of which of them is hurt. I miss the days when they were brothers first, everything else after, though with everything that's been thrown at them that may have only lasted a few episodes. Thank you for sharing this awesome tag.

Kohadril chapter 1 . 1/25/2010
The ending of this episode always did bother me: Sam getting shot should have been taken far more seriously, especially considering that he was jinxed. A bullet in the shoulder can permanently disable or kill somebody, depending on where it hits; the shoulder is an extremely complicated joint. This fix, that it was Dean's luck that kept him safe, is the most sensible one I've seen or read. Good call.

It would have been nice for Dean to get the tickets back in canon, too: that way the boys wouldn't have to waste nearly as much time stealing.

Probably most important of all, this fic points out that Sam's injuries really should have produced a signficant amount more worry in Dean. Again, you provide an explanation for that, and then put Dean squarely back in character. Another episode that would have been helped with your additions.
sidjack chapter 1 . 11/11/2009
Everytime I read this, it just gets better. I love Dean's attitude towards Bela, that he will kill her if she hurts Sam ever. That is just the best and the Dean I seem to be missing the most.

Sam being in so much pain, but the curse hiding things from Dean about Sam's injuries is so great. Makes the doctoring that much sweeter and big brotherly.

Very nice job, just so much schmoop in the right amount.

Whilom chapter 1 . 7/17/2009
Interesting concept, that the rabbit's foot cast a glow over reality. I liked Dean's interaction with Bela-your dialogue for that section was right on. And I'm so glad you had Dean retrieve the lottery tickets for Sam! It's very Dean-like to be storing up for Sam for after he's gone. And the little hints about this notebook in the past couple stories has me intrigued.
Nana56 chapter 1 . 1/29/2009
Thank you! I hated that she got away with shooting Sam. If anyone else had shot him, Dean would have killed them on the spot! Every time she was in the show, the boys were different. You dealt with her nicely. :D

Great tag. Explains a lot...why they didn't take care of Sam's various injuries, etc.

Loved it.
BlueSea14 chapter 1 . 1/7/2009
This was entertaining, and also interesting. I hadn't even thought about Sam's bullet wound after the episode, but of course the conflicting luck-that of Sam's, and that of Dean's-would have influenced how bad the wound was. It makes sense. :)

Good job!
Tatsumaki-sama chapter 1 . 10/14/2008
I couldn't help but laugh and at the same time, sympathize for the really bad luck Sam. Even without the bad luck, he's a demon/spirit magnet. But I liked how Dean's good luck managed to save Sam from the bullet and Dean warning Bella not to hurt Sam again and getting his lottery tickets back was priceless. And of course, Dean's Batman line was undeniably awesome.
