Reviews for Her
machievelli chapter 1 . 10/2/2013
Posted 19 April 2013, at the Starwarsknights web site and the Lucasforums Coruscant Entertainment Center in my The Critic's Two Cents. I was posting directly to the actual story threads, but my computer went down for the second time in six months with a virus in June of 2012. Then in November kotorfanmedia went down for reasons unknown, so I was stymied in my attempts to post the reviews. I had waited for it to revive, but you on fanfiction deserve your reviews.

TSL aboard Ebon Hawk: Just a simple cup of tea?

I think his own thoughts, that he is expected to sacrifice some animal to attain the rank of Jedi shows the same ignorance newly trained soldiers have about becoming a soldier themselves. There are always rumors of this sort; that you have to murder an innocent, or worse yet, a family member to prove your resolve.

The provenance of the tea blend itself was interesting; not where it came from, or even who supplied it, but the reason you drink it. While that seems to have little to do with Atton assuming the responsibilities of being a Jedi, the fact that it is served to someone you love was a surprise.

The piece has a surreal feel to it. Atton's thoughts of someone sitting down to tea mirror those of a lot of us. To the average American, tea is something you drink if you don't have or like coffee. The ritual of afternoon tea, as I explained in one of my own works, is because most people tend to chug coffee, but they tend to sip tea; it's a chance during an otherwise busy day to relax and discuss rather than merely stay within your own head, which is what an afternoon coffee break suggests.

Absolutely stunning. I love your characterizations, I love your knowledge/creativity of Talia and her tea, I love your take on the Exile. A lot of people try to force her to be just like them, but I feel as if you built a lot of depth and softness into her persona that is very enjoyable to read. Amazing work; favorited for sure!

Ah, nothing solves a problem quite like the universal cure-all tea. Very cleverly written, enjoyable and best off all, very sweet! Love it.

This is by far the best Atton / Exile fic I've read. I loved how you never revealed the exile's name, so everyone reading could picture this as their character having the conversation. I also loved how you brought the events of the game into play, along with some elements of your own. It gave the fic just enough familiarity to be a comfortable read without going so far out there that it would be hard to believe. I liked how you didn't overload on passion or undying love confessions, which seem to be common themes with Atton and the exile (or, god forbid, the infamous death scene. *shudder*). And I loved how the entire story linked back to the tea. Because that would have been a really random element if it hadn't been connected to the theme of love so well.

So, bravo! The result is a fantastic fic that made me appreciate this couple even more. Thanks for the great story! :)

"If you break her heart I'll break your spine" Loved it!
Lae27 chapter 1 . 4/8/2009
Nicely done. I like how Atton never mentioned the Exile's name or certain physical characteristics; it gave me the joy of imagining the female exile I always use in the game.

Atton's character was nicely done and so was the Exile. Her calm and intelligent personality makes sense after she's been through war and exile and all that.
The Mad Maiden chapter 1 . 3/19/2009
I love the way you portrayed the characters. I can see this happening, and I really liked Atton's thoughts.
