So... your first attempt at writing horror, huh? Well, it was fantastic, especially for a first attempt! You balanced the horror really well with everything else, and you treated the characters really well. Well, you didn't; actually, you were pretty horrible to them; what I mean is, you kept them very much in character (except for Vlad: he was especially, and wonderfully, evil) and had them react as they probably would in this situation. And James's payback was beautiful!

Psh, girl, I'm a girl and I love explosions! That's not a guy thing, it's an explosion-loving-person thing. And that was a redundancy. Or tautology. Probably both. Anyhow, fun exploding bathroom scene was fun and explodey! And I was wondering when you'd bring up the bet! [::

Eric's actions here make me think of that kid in "Desperation" whose name escapes me... as does the mine from which the Beast was released...

Amanda is giving me serious Pet Sematary vibes...

My first instinct is that the monster is some sort of Skinwalker, and it's now walking around in the guise of Amanda... well, I'll have to read on to see! And if you want to write horror, I recommend reading Stephen King: he gets into the heads of the characters, and really shows the reader what they're thinking and how they're thinking it while horrific things happen around (and often within) them. For me, that more than anything else creates the immense sense of horror for which he's famous. Books like "Pet Sematary", "The Shining", "Carrie"... fantastic horror stories! You did really well with this chapter, though!

I absolutely LOVED Eric! I knew he was an Angel as soon as he "rebuked" the Beast.. of course, then I thought the Beast was a demon, but this was way better. Anyway. I loved him, especially the "I'm on the winning side" line. It was so cool! Then all of the He has plans for you! SWEET!
Great job on this fic, I love how you portray Danny and Vlad, it is really, really good.
