WTH, psijic order I really did not see that coming , great story so far, sad about the DB their my favorite

This is my all time favorite Fan-fic. I have read it maybe twice now. The first time when I was just 11 or so. Looking forawd to reading it again :D

Lilia's first real assassination, and she does pretty well! She wraps up two quests in one swoop and we get to meet Lex for the first time.

I adore that Lex isn't a bad guy and that Phillida is. It adds a depth to the Dark Brotherhood scenario, and adds to the "corrupt guards" storyline. The assassination of the pirate is my favorite of Lilia's contracts, probably because we get Lex and Methredhel. All of the others are so lonely and Lilia's loneliness just grows. It's nice when she finally starts her poorly disguised social calls.

This is also the start of another great running joke: Lex feeling sorry for Lilia and the strange things this "Alchemist" does. I think by the end of it Lex just kind of expects Lilia to show up no matter how important or weird.

This chapter is all tests and training. Not really that plot important, but amusing and fun. It sets up some important things: Lilia is an accomplished alchemist, she's massively holding back, she likes to see what others can do, and the way she solves problems is nothing short of magnificent.

Distracting Teinaava with the Crassius Curio book was great. (I adore references to Morrowind! It's easily my favorite of the games.)

Goading Vicente into really sparring with her taught Lilia more than it taught Vicente. It's going to be really important that she knows how strong and fast vampires are, even if she doesn't know that she needs to know that. Also, Lilia being able to cast spells without speaking or hand movements. Fairly important later on.

The shell game with Lilia and Gogron to pin Vicente is a great way to show off Lilia's problem solving logic. Fun, even though I wanted to smack Vicente for being so rude when he thought Lilia hadn't even tried. I mean, I get it, but still.

Gogron's "I'll never forget that expression as long as I live," was cruel and uncalled for. :) I felt unexpectedly sad about it, even knowing how bloodthirsty he can be. (You know, killing a five year old at her birthday party and all.)

Not an action packed chapter, but important plot wise. All of the scenes in the sanctuary have this dark, cosy feeling to them. It's a good thing Lilia doesn't have her Dark Serpent in her head yet. It would be positively singing here. It's...conflicting liking the assassins. You like them, but you know they are monsters. Except Vicente.

Lilia's fear and hatred of the cursed door-and her avoidance of it-is funny in a sad way.

I like that new members have to go through training. Lilia doesn't really need it, but it makes sense that the Dark Brotherhood wouldn't just send green recruits out to murder willy nilly. They are family, after all.

You addressed that there was no bed for the player in the sanctuary and had a fun little section to get Lilia a bed. Poor sneezing Gogron. And Antoinetta making crab chowder! Was that a coincidence or did Lucien plant the seed for that without giving details? Sounds like something that ass would do.

Vicente, Vicente, Vicente. Innocent in the eyes of the Nine, polite, nice and Lilia's roommate. Yeah, that's got tragedy written all over it...

Poor Lilia. Her anxiety about meeting Lucien is funny-because she just easily killed 4 bandits-and nerve racking because Lucien could easily kill her. She might have poured on the charm a little too much though. She's just set herself up for special attention from him, which is something that you never want. He's impressed enough that he wants her as his Silencer, so he'll put her through the paces (and piss everyone else off in the process).

I forgot to mention in the last review that we had our first indication that Lilia can sense evil-the cold curling around her-which will be EXTREMELY important. Here, we get our first indication of her ability to see if someone is damned by the Nine and if they are a murderer.

The quest about the jumbo potatoes is mentioned here, which is my favorite tiny quest. I loved her tired confusion.

Rufio is killed in a way that looks natural, a theme for Lilia. It's disturbing watching Lilia kill people, tempered by the fact that they deserve it, poisoned by the fact that she shouldn't have to be the person to do it. What is more disturbing is that Lucien is watching her. He's going to make her life hell.

Dang this chapter is dark. I'll start with what I found funny.

We get our first appearance of The Lonely Farmer's Daughter and Her Magic Carrot. I am keeping a tally of that one. Of your many running jokes, this one is probably one of my favorites. (Martin and Lilia's fondness for mutton and always needing new furniture are my favorite.) The Nord guard clunking around in the undercroft is also pretty good, mostly because I think you are making fun of the game engine a little bit with the never varying guard patrols.

Lucien Lachance. Oh boy. I never had a crush on him and I'm happy that he's portrayed as a bloodthirsty monster here. People tend to forget that he's much more likely to murder a love interest rather than love them. I like how terrified the guards are of him-as well as the detail that you need the guards to open the gates.

His POV: Good choice. It makes Lilia's skills seem more mysterious-which is demystified later by how much she wants to throw up while doing it and that she was implementing ALL of her tricks-and completely terrifying. The one by one aspect of the bandit's deaths is horrifying. We see Lilia's trick with the dagger to the back of the head for the first time. That's very plot relevant later on.

Gods, the mudcrabs. That section actually makes me feel a bit sick and I have a strong stomach.

I'll end with something that made me laugh. The running joke with Shadowmere is beautiful. That nasty, cranky horse gives me life and Lucien deserves all the abuse her receives from her.

Ah, the first of Lilia damning the Gods to their own Nine Hells. I would keep a tally, but that's probably excessive in the extreme. I'll break this chapter down by section.

So Lilia's a pretty decent mage, but she couldn't cast because the Gods silenced her magic. This is the first mention of her deal with the Nine. Thank you for not explaining it all in one big info dump in the third chapter. I hate it when authors do that. You spaced out the information, which draws people into the story.

Her practicality impresses me. I would have been WAY more upset about my hair than she was. Putting on the Mythic Dawn robes and making her dress into a bag was practical and ultimately a bit plot important. It also made me think about how weird stripping bodies for their clothes or armor really is. Makes me feel strange about my horde of armor in game.

Weynon Priory: Brother Piner's description of calming down his mother always makes me laugh. And We meet Jauffre for the first time! Knowing what happens later...my blood runs cold. "What are you doing here?" That question is so innocuous, but it's actually our very first indication that something is very very wrong.

Lilia runs out without finding out where Martin is, unwittingly buying Kvatch an extra year. The part about Jauffre staring at the wall sends down chills too. He has the amulet, he has time for the effects of the Dragonfires to dissipate and he's got an heir on the loose. But that heir doesn't know that he's the heir and Jauffre has the luxury of being able to wait and plan.

Methredhel! I love that strange, violent Bosmer. And Armand, who is cool, but not nearly as cool as Methredhel. Him being mixed race makes sense, I always wondered if Bethesda screwed up somewhere or changed their mind about his race. Mixed answers it well in universe.

We also get confirmation from Lilia that she is a mix of races, but she doesn't elaborate.

This also sets up for a big arc: Lilia being manipulated by other people (and not appreciating it AT ALL.) Stupid Grey Fox.

Another chapter not from Lilia's POV. That's good. It means we get to skip the tutorial level and we get some insight into Valen Dreth and Baurus.

Valen's a nasty fetcher, isn't he? He's got a girl possibly dying in front of him and all he cares about is how that makes him feel. Of course, he's a later target for Lilia, meaning he's a murderer. Of course he doesn't care that someone might be dying.

We've got three misidentifications of Lilia's race in this chapter. These misidentifications show rather than tell how strange and distinctive Lilia is, which is good. Lilia is also starting to act more like herself, which throws her earlier behavior into sharp contrast. Also, that broken arm sounds horrible, as did popping her arm back into place. Shows how tough she is though.

Baurus is delightful, as always. It's a shame that we won't see him again for a good long while.

I have read this story probably 6 or 7 times. The first time I read it, it was one of the worst days of my life-the day my Grandma went into the hospital and ended up never returning home-and this story made that day of anxiety better. Each time I read it, I catch something new. Sometimes it's a joke, sometimes it's a piece of foreshadowing I never caught.

So the thing I have to ask myself is, how do I thank you? The only way I know how is by giving an in depth review of the chapters. I don't know if you are still reading these reviews, but I hope you are. So here's my inauspicious beginning.

Starting the story with Audens' perspective was a very smart choice. I really like that the little "Audens' Trilogy" is book ended by his perspectives. We see him first in his position of power and authority: feared, arrogant, and an idiot. It's those very traits that will lead to his death. That is great story telling, I can see exactly where his fatal flaws will lead.

Your world building is wonderful. Because of game engine limitations, it's easy to forget that Tamriel has seasons. Tiny details like unseasonable weather, Lorkmir running the skooma trade, credit notes from banks, etc all build the world like the game didn't.

The first glimpse of Lilia is mysterious, as it should be. It sets up some important things: She is well traveled (her cloak, which was also good world building, and her strange accent), her race isn't immediately obvious, she's reasonably well off, and something weird is going on with her.

Her beating is horrific and the reaction of Iounus sets up an overreaching arc-that the Guards are corrupt as hell. But what does that matter? Because Audens Avidius is having a very good day.

I'll admit, initially I felt the writing wasn't that great.
But soon enough, I was shown otherwise. I got hooked onto this and I binge-read it for around a week or so, and I've enjoyed it thoroughly.

I've read a lot of Fanfiction in my life. All sorts of different fandoms, genres, and writing styles. I've read possibly the worst of the worst, and the best of the best.

Today marks my twelfth time reading this story through, since I discovered it roughly six years ago. I'm a raving fan of the Elder Scrolls series, as well as its lore, and this Fanfiction is masterful in its vast inclusion of various elements within the Elder Scrolls universe. This author went above and beyond the call of duty, and delivered a written work that is, in many ways, a completely original story removed from its source. There are so many deviations from the original Oblivion story, that I dare say this is more an extension of the Elder Scrolls, instead of a story contained within that world.

12 times I've read this, and tonight I finally decide to write a review, giving it a glowing recommendation to anyone and everyone that would like an excellent piece of work. I give this an infinite number of 'plus one', and then some. This story easily ranks in my top 10, and it could just as well be my absolute Number One... but it's rather hard to rank Fanfiction, in my opinion, so I'll not be arrogant enough to compare it against other fics.

My only sorrow is that the author of this story may never be able to see my love for their story and its continuations. I can only hope that this author, Pheonicia, has published an original work of their own. I would read anything this person released publicly, as I am that confident in their abilities.

My best wishes and prayers upon this author, as even six years later, they continue to bring me entertainment.
