I'm reading through it the second time for school (it's what happens when you switch schools a lot) and I'm dreading reading the part where Simon dies. I didn't take it well either.

Though, you know, if Simon did survive being stabbed repeatedly, wouldn't he end up getting left behind on a burnt-out island?

YAY! another Simon fan! I really coudn't deal with it when Simon died too. He was my fave character but Golding had to go and kill him off.

PLEASE CONTINUE, I wanna know what happens next. This is a great story and I like to think that there might be a way that Simon survived. More power to you! :)

I like to think that Simon didn't die too. He's the only character in the book who was truly good and I love him, he's really cute! I'd like to know what happens to him next, please write some more!

Dead doesn't alway's mean 'dead' it could have ment dead as in, working dead, like he was paralyzed. I don't think he died either, because symbolicly, he's the LOTF Jesus, and Jesus came back. So Simon CAN'T be dead.

wow, i couldn't deal with simon's death, too, but, as even golding calls it, LotF is only a fable, and even if simon didn't really die, the story's like it is, and nothing will change, since there'll be no sequel. i'm too passionate with LotF, and too much in love with Simon, but, still... i dealt with it, all i can do for him is to make him alive in my stories. Duh, however, since you won't change your theory, i won't try to convince you ;)

Actually, it does mention "Simon's dead body" in the book (page 154 of my copy), and I really don't see any way that Simon could have possibly survived after being torn to bits and washed out to sea. Even if he'd been alive after they attacked him, which I find HIGHLY unlikely (especially considering that the book specifically says he is dead), he would have eventually drowned. That LOF/HP character contrast was kind of interesting; I don't really think Harry is like Simon, but Neville makes a good Piggy and it's something to think about. I LOVE SAMNERIC!

I completely agree! I have toyed with the idea several times myself... though mine always had a darker theme as to how it affected Simons behavior... but great all the same! :)

Hah. Flame you for this? Someone finally had the courage to do what I wanted to all along. I did this same story in my head many, many times...I couldn't accept Simon's death either...
