Aww, poor River. Nice to see some Book action too. Love the entire cast, really. And I really do love how Jayne talked her down. *sighs* If only this was canon.

This is one of my favourite chapters yet. They're all wonderful, but I just loved the moments between River and Jayne and Simon and Jayne at the end. I'm a sucker for Simon and Jayne becoming sorta friends... frenemies?

Your River here was fantastic, especially with her 'reading' that couple. And Jayne being all intimidatin'-like yet gentle with River. So damn cute. And Kaylee - lol! - I knew she knew. She's just so damn cute and funny, I wanna hug her.

Loved the little twist with the smugglers and how Jayne handled it. He's my hero. Also showcased how soft Mal can be, especially with supposedly like-minded folk, such as that group who just so happened to be from Shadow.

And then there were three: Simon, Mal and Shepherd. However, I have a feeling that the preacher already knows, what with how he was acting around Jayne before informing him that he'd be temporarily staying in the bunk next to Jayne's.

Ah, Mal, you're so... Mal-like. Glad to see that River is indirectly righting Mal on his perception of Jayne, and Inara's influencing directly. Everything is moving quite organically, which I hope will lessen the blow for Mal and Simon, the drama queens. ;P

Heheh, this was just a downright cute and funny chapter. I have stomach ache just picturing all the food they ate. Another great chapter. :)

Lol! Friggin' Wash was hilarious in this. And it's funny that I mentioned Zoe should probably know about River and Jayne and voila! Again, everyone was so delightfully in character and the narrative flowed wonderfully. A delight to read. :)

I have a feeling Kaylee or the Shepard will catch on next. Although I'm wondering how Zoe hasn't figured it out yet.

Aww, this chapter was so sweet. Again, I love how perceptive you are with the characters. I could definitely see Inara okay with them as a couple, as long as she saw how gentle Jayne was with River (and she did) and Wash, of course, would totally understand. He has his own warrior woman. And I love how he let River and Jayne have some alone time. Gah. This story is just so damn sweet!

I *love* that you include all the other characters in this. You have written their mannerisms *perfectly*. I'm especially loving your Inara. And your use of description is (once again) perfect. Not too much and not too little - you know exactly when to employ your adjectives. ;)
