Reviews for Powers and the Press
Guest chapter 1 . 9/5/2018
A great story but the Pledge of Allegiance only dates back to the 1890's. It isn't something America is founded on.
D72 chapter 1 . 3/11/2017
Yeah, when she gave cap crap over myspace and fggn nascar, yikes. He might not have been all that big a fan of the pledge tho...
Kairan1979 chapter 1 . 11/4/2015
Excellent story. I was pissed off seeing Urich and Floyd deciding to bury the biggest story in their lives, not to mention Floyd claiming that Cap doesn't represent America because he doesn't bother to keep up with the latest fads.
Drag0nst0rm chapter 1 . 9/24/2015
This is exactly, precisely, what I was looking for. Thank you.
My blue rose chapter 1 . 7/14/2012
I totaly agree, I was thinking this as I read Frontline and I was kinda pissed at how Sally portrayed Cap. awesome fic and I cracked up at" I don't envy the next time he and Daredevil talk."

So true! I love Matt...and J.J. too, he's always been one of my favorite side characters.
kagehisa chapter 1 . 1/6/2011
I read this chapter in Civil War: Front Line, and yeah, I whole-heartedly agree with how very stupid Sally asked those questions and insulted Cap's cause. Granted, it might've been also a little rage left over after walking through several different battle zones throughout the civil war series, but hey, she made her own bed after that.

Kudos.
Vuurvlieg chapter 1 . 5/7/2010
I'd really like to see a sequel. Is there a possibility? Pretty please?
Sunflare2k5 chapter 1 . 4/26/2010
For all that Jameson's done against Spider-Man, he's still been a responsible journalist on everything else. And Sally Floyd was a well-deserving target of his wrath.

Because Captain America is too busy saving lives and helping people to sit around and watch "American Idol" or YouTube, he's not worth anything? Stupidest. Argument. Ever!
Warwolf chapter 1 . 7/10/2008
All I can say to this one is A-MEN!

I read that issue of Frontline and nothing made me more sick than seeing what they did, especially as it could have buried the SHRA so deep into the ground it would never see the light of day again. I can honestly say I want to see a sequel to this, or at least a continuation, where the information comes out and we see how the world reacts.
Dusty chapter 1 . 1/2/2008
Yes! Thank you for writing this! I wanted to slap Ben and Sally both so very, very hard. What they did was such a disappointing end to the Frontline story.
Garfan chapter 1 . 8/20/2007
Love the story

SionnachOghma- So what if the people wanted registration? Americans of his time wanted Japanese-Americans interred and segreagation. It went against American principles and eventually people realized that.
SionnachOghma chapter 1 . 6/28/2007
I hate to be the voice of dissent, BUT...

It's not your style of writing I didn't like. It was very well written. But the story itself just doesn't go down easy.

I really liked Captain America, but I wholeheartedly agreed with Sally's attack on him. He claimed to be representing the American people, but when Sally pointed out that the people WANTED the Registration Act, even demanded it, Cap barely even registered the fact. The methods employed by Stark & SHIELD during Civil War were deplorable, and the new regime sucks, but Cap was truly lost during the whole debacle. I pitied him for how blind he seemed to be to the people he claimed to be defending.

Also, Spidey and Jameson? Nu-uh, never. Jameson would definitely blow that story open if he got ahold of it, but Peter would never be the guy to give it to him. Or anyone else for that matter. In the most recent issue of FNSM, Jonah actually FIRED Robbie for sticking up for Spider-man, refusing to take part in dismantling the poor guy's life further, and there are few costumes in 198 more familiar with moral compromise than Spidey. Just look at how long he kept Norman Osborn's secret in order to protect his own, and consider the damage he could have prevented if he'd exposed himself years ago. I think he worked with Ben to find out what Stark was up to because he knew Ben to be smart enough to recognise a potential disaster when he sees one. He knew Urich wouldn't put the story out there knowing the damage it could cause.

Again, good style and dialogue, but I really disagree with the characterisations.
Readasaur chapter 1 . 4/27/2007
YES! YES!

F*CK YES!

That is EXACTLY what I thought!

Oh, GOD, yes!

You have MADE MY DAY!
Ghost in the Machine chapter 1 . 4/1/2007
I stopped buying Marvel the minute I saw they killed Cap. I don't think I'm the only one. (I'm not saying characters should never die, but c'mon, that one was extremely suck-tacular.)

This should have been Frontline #12. But Joe Q is so fascinated with the idea of turning Marvel Comics into Fascist America Comics that he'd never have allowed it to see print.
