Hum. I've just reviewed "Presence", from theslyknave, as my second favorite fic all time. I got an enthusiastic response, saying that every author likes reviews, and so thanks for mine, and by the way it's a good thing you appreciate Snape - and that's what leads me to this. A review of my all-time-favorite.
I hope that you read this and that you don't mind my digressions, and I'll tell you that I like this story so much I've read it countless times already. I'm even trying to translate this in my own language, Dutch ('trying' being the key word, since I'm not really good at that, but what to do better than practice with something you love?). Not that I'd post it here, though. I know you've written a disclaimer about this not being Rowlings work, but then I'd have to write one about it being your work as well and oh, I'm rambling. Sorry.
So, just wanted to tell you I really LOVE this fic, and that I hope you keep writing because I like a great lot of your other fics as well. Thank you for writing this and for giving me some more of Severus to love.

This was excelent. Very well written. I am, however, a bit confused. At the beginning of the story are they not together as a couple? I got that whim, but then agiain, I got the sence that they'd kissed or been together on at least one occasion before. Oh well, maybe it's just my warped mind screwing up a fantastic story.

I agree with the bulk of your reviewers here - ethereal is a good word to describe the style of this piece. The characters seem a bit OOC to me, possibly except for Harry & Hermione. Like, when did Ron get all poetic and wise? And I'm still not entirely sure I'm ready for Snape as a friendly guy. His prickliness is part of what makes him a great character.

The writing is, without a doubt, beautiful. You do a fabulous job of evoking a mood.

Stunning, stunning work. Absolutely exquisite and gloriously uplifting. The images you paint print themselves on the page like russet photographs - the sense of nostalgia, of magic, of innocence and of awareness. This is highly philosophical and really very beautiful. I could barely breathe, reading this.

*trying to recover from the speechlessness* Wow. Do you have any idea what a gift of words you have? There are so many things I could say about this story but two seem to sum it up fairly well: pure poetry. You have succeeded beautifully in manipulating emotions with words, in my opinion. The wisdom you put into all of the characters along with the freedom, sadness, and so many other emotions is just astounding. If I had half the talent you do I could die happy. You are amazing…there’s just nothing else for it. I…wow. Excellent piece, I for one am in awe of you right now.

This story touched me. Thank you for writting it. The emotion in your story is so strong. I feel like I've been hit over the head with it, but in a good way. I began to ache when Severus did. I love the descriptions Severus offers of Harry as he watches him. I also, loved the imagery "...green eyes sparkled like fireflies on blades of grass." Your stories always seem to pull me in so completely. Something else I enjoyed was the words of wisdom sprikled throughout the story. And as much as I hate to admit it I like how you changed Severus's character just enough to make it seem real but not too much to where it would've been totally out of character.

You rock! Are you planning on making writting your profession?

P.S. Go and see the movie Little Miss Sunshine. I haven't laughed so much, especially at the end, at a movie in a long time! I laughed so hard I had tears in my eyes!
