I enjoyed the whole tone of this piece. And this was especially interesting: "The scent of gunpowder in Dean’s hair was oddly comforting, a memory so basic and familiar that it carried the whole pattern of his childhood. Dingy hotels, danger in the shadows, and the cleanup afterwards all culminating in the two of them returning safe and exhausted, curled up together at night, sometimes battered around the edges but still there to survive another day. It was the smell of constancy, of family." Nice!

And I like it that you remembered the shapeshifter's words from Skin. The other fanfics concerning Asylum's fallout (that I've read) seem to be oblivious to that...

But still, the brothers are just simply wonderful, and you're at least equally wonderful for so perfectly managing to channel them.

I can't but wonder how you do that.

Awesome story really really liked it. I love to read the missing scene stories. These lines are my favorite.

“Making the bed smaller,” Sam whispered. “Oh. ‘Kay,” Dean mumbled. " Makes them sound like their about 5 and 9

and then the whole last part was just not only comical but touching all at the same time.

"Dean stirred a little next to him. “You’re not… crying on my neck, are you?” he asked sleepily.

Sam swallowed noisily. “I’m trying really hard not to,” he whispered back.

Dean patted his arm clumsily, and turned his head into Sam’s.

“S’okay,” he mumbled. “Go back to sleep.”

And there it was. He hadn’t earned it and didn’t deserve it, but there it was all the same.

Forgiveness."

That was soo good! So sweet too and that episode is on this thursday! I will watch it then re read this because it was awesome! Greatj ob!

Good job! Sam thread of thoughts was very well explained (although I think he did mean those thinks back at the Asylum, only that, obviously, they were blown out of proportion). Anyway, the last bit is amazing. I loved their dialogue:

This story is so sad and sweet, I felt so bad for them! There really should have been something like this is the show! Keep up the great work I love brotherly moment stories.
