You had a pretty interesting story up until the end, where you resolved all conflict without actually writing how everything happened. Rule One of writing a story: the characters are not allowed to dramatically change off screen. Character development is one of the most important things of the story: up there with plot and readable grammar. Good story, but you're second last chapter had the characters only beginning to solve their problems and then the last is ten years after its been resolved. That, dear, is bad writing.

Well I would've liked to have had at least one more chapter in between the last and second to last, but I do really like how you tied up this story. By showing them 'grown up' and alluding to it throughout the story, you really managed to make it more human. And who cares that you fudged with the cannon? It is fanfiction afterall. :)
