Reviews for A Mirror in the Palm of Your Hand
helloitskrisha chapter 2 . 3/28
This is so beautifully written and lovely. The angst is DELICIOUS, and I think you've nailed Erik and the Daroga's prickly yet tender connection. It's so hard to find good Pharoga smut so I thank you for this wonderful story!
Violonaire chapter 2 . 11/16/2017
This was so beautiful. I truely feel the calm and self-control and yet passion that I know of the Daroga, in Kay. I love the inner-discourse of the Daroga. The whole piece is extremely poetic. It's my first Daroga/Erik, here, again. The dynamic is quite different from the E/R I've read. I feel the two parties are far more equal here than an E/R story.
stefanie bean chapter 2 . 9/22/2017
Here we are, ten years later, and I noticed that I'd never left a review for Chapter 2 of this painfully beautiful, exquisite story. I just re-read it, and it holds up very well after all this time.

It's as classic as an Ingres painting, but overlaid with heartbreak, because Erik will never love the Persian the way he wants to be loved. One of the most beautiful touches: the description of Erik's eyelashes, which one would never see unless very close to him. The Persian is able to get that close, and live.

Again, I don't know what happened that I neglected this jewel of a second chapter. Brava!
conie992 chapter 2 . 2/24/2016
I must say I enjoyed this story emensly. The language and tone not only fit the period of the piece perfectly but fit the characters as well. I adore your language here. Personally it "fits my aesthetic." The descriptions given make the story classy in a way. I've never been a giant pharoga fan but if they were all like this I could easily change my mind, thanks -Anna
magneticfield chapter 2 . 7/28/2015
My absolute favorite Erik/Nadir story. How terribly painful and sad to wait until your friend/lover falls asleep to say I love you.
Every time I read this story I cry. A great piece of writing.
Thank you.
russomaha chapter 1 . 10/27/2014
I usually do not read slash. But after this, I will. You've created a thing of beauty out of not-so-savoury situation. Thank you for your writing and sharing it with us.
LaDine chapter 2 . 5/30/2010
I enjoyed this story immensely. Thanks for sharing it.
Vampiric Phantoms chapter 2 . 3/19/2008
I very much enjoyed this, especially how Erik and Nadir where kept in perfect character. The parts where Erik 'gave' Nadir power is completely possible, like Erik is tired of being the one in control, yet he can't quite get rid of the power. It's a very real struggle with a lot of people, especially Erik. You can feel Nadir's love and pain for him as well, making it all the more real.

This is insightful, sensual, gorgeous prose. Thank you for sharing.

Good, a little sad but it was still a very well written story.
DaFatGnome chapter 2 . 11/21/2006

Raine K. Grayson chapter 2 . 5/29/2006
Wonderfuly written! It's so hard to come across a well-written intamite slash phic anymore, and you've presented me with hope. Though I do think things were a bit rushed (Maybe the tension before should have been pulled out another chapter or two?), everything was written amazingly. The use of Rumi is wonderful, and perfectly fits.

And everything was simply well-written, as well! You have a way with words, my friend.
Little Christine chapter 2 . 5/24/2006
This is a very, very nice slash phic. I rarely get the chance to read a well-written slash phic, so this is like a great treat for me.

I admire this phic a lot for it's definitely logical and realistic but at the same time beautifully written. It's the essential slash phic but with a rather fantastic plot line and beautiful realism.

Again, wonderful phic.
MadLizzy chapter 2 . 5/19/2006
Slash doesn't normally draw me in, but your excellent characterizations and use of Rumi's lyric poetry were effective and endearing. I was extremely moved by this story. The Daroga's humanity - his love for Erik, and his understanding of Erik - were appealing. You show a master's hand at work. ~ML
MadLizzy chapter 1 . 5/19/2006
"The unique is often irresistible; who does not, in their heart of hearts, long for a demon lover or for a fallen angel?" You have a gift for being able to create a memorable sentence with few words. I'm really enjoying your work. ~ML
