I like this story. Good enough writing, an interesting enough plot, Jarlaxle and Dinin...

It makes for an interesting tale.

However, you overuse exclamation marks, and you put in too few commas. Just some critique.

I actually think the fact that she has purple eyes quite understandable. It must run in the family, after all. And since it's such a rare trait, it must be a recessive allele, which means that both Zaknafein and Malice would have to carry the recessive allele somehow. So Malice could have passed that on to Dinin, even though he had a different father. Dinin had red eyes because he also got the dominant allele from her-that's how the trait is always masked. The only way to get that trait is to get TWO recessive alleles, one from each parent. So if Ielenia had that recessive allele, her daughter could easily have gotten purple eyes.

Lol, if anybody needs a perfectly logical and scientific explanation, you can post that. ;)

haha other than that, great story! I can't believe I haven't stumbled upon it before, and I love how Jarlaxle isn't like, the kind, wise person some people make him out to be (myself included), he's quite mysterious and slightly insane.

and THAT is the downfall of all psions, if they don't have their crytsal they are nothing. This is why warlocks are superior! the magic they uses is ALWYSS with them even in death, it sufaces their souls and need only one with a strong enough will to use properly!

Here's an idea, however, have you ever heard of Warlocks?

I myself LOVE to play this character class during D&D games so I'm quiet familiar with it. And while it DOES have some more obvious drawbacks for a magical character class the potentiial for the some of the multiclassing far outweighs any drawbacks. The eldritch blast alone combined with maxamise and empower spell-like abilties feats and then cross classing with monk, ranger, scout or rogue or better yet the assassin prstigue class makes for a VERY versitile character, powerful too.

However a pure warlock is sill a very powerful characte if used right. the spell-like abilities may be limited in how many different ones can be used but add in the fact they those same abilities aren't restricted AT ALL in how many times one can use them... Also the Eldritch blast is is a ranged TOUCH attack, completely ignororing all Armor and damage reduction. I've taken out pitfiends with one BY MYSLF as a 12th level character.

The spell-resistance was a bitch to get past but the greater spell penitration feats helped a bunch.

Ok, now don't go thinking I'm an excessive nerd here, I'm just giving you some good examples to go by based on my own personal experiance.

Warlocks are some of the most versatile classes around, and really should be considered for this fic. The character alone gets enough Will saves by Lv.15 to fight a Mindflayer on even ground, with the right equipment and spell-like abilities too, of course.
