Sad, but sweet. Bittersweet might be a better term for it, I don't know. Or melancholy. Either one, but both work. Although neither convey the rich sense of lonliness and hurt that is felt. They're too shallow for that and I don't know of any other words that would work there.

Ah, the endless chase... Remy is solid and Rogue is scared and it makes for great angsty fiction, don't it? *shakes head* And how many ways has it been figured out to get past the mutant ability and be all hot and heavy? Sheesh.
