well, this story is most certainly one of a kind.

the first three chapters were written stunningly. i loved the way you described many of the human implements in the way a horse would perceive them. you also captured the fear and panic of running from the "white bird" very well.

the part about the mustang slaughter was beautifully done. just enough gore to make us uneasy without indulging our inner bloodlust. i am glad to find someone passionate about this issue.

as if the inhumane capture and treatment of these animals in captivity is not bad enough, the way they are killed is nothing less than monstrous. monstrous does not even begin to cover it.

i have actually seen this slaughter in progress; heard the screams and seen the look in their eyes as they hang bleeding. you sound like someone who has too. for this reason, i have sworn off red meat. i plan to do more. i don't know why i am telling you this; just so you know you're not alone.

Wow! This is such a cool story! My own horse was just days away from slaughter about 4 years ago when I met him, he was mean as all get out and he looked like he was about to keel over. I retrained him and now people ask me what country he was imported from, he looks that good! Most people really don't see that a rescued horse is the greatest friend anyone can have. Thank you so much for bringing this out in your story!

Wow! This is REALLY accurate! Burns should die... evil piece of filth that he is. It's really good to know that there really ARE people on the horses' side! Great story, but please do consider writing a little bit more fear into the horses. At the last auction I went to,( this was tame horses who had been handled all thier lives,) the horses were all either screaming thier heads off or absolutely panicking. One poor little mare scrunched up into a corner and had to be dragged out.

EXCELLENT story overall, though. I am SOO glad that somebody is writing this!

Great story! I love it! Finally, someone else who is concerned about the mustangs! I don't live in the states, but i live in Canada, and the few mustangs we have left are illegally captured and sold for slaughter, or else they're just shot, its horrible! This is a great story though, please do continue!

thanks to my incessant time on the internet and my visiting of I heard about the Burns thingy thanks to Viggo. I own a mustang myself and am shocked, scared, and worried. Shocked by the bill, and scared and worried for our mustangs. How could America let this happen? Your story's great, by the way. I suppose I should have said that first. Oh well.

Hay good discription ,But i heard some where that the way that they slughter cows is by shooting them in the head with a shoot gun or something like that so maybe that is what they do with horses .Sad
