Reviews for An Amalgam of Lost Tales
Guest chapter 2 . 10/17/2015
I really, really loved this! My favorite line...

"Fuck me stupid," Mugen says between snorts, "Jin finally caught a fish."

BWAHAHAHA! *tears of laughter*

You captured Jin perfectly, everything about him. All of his brooding and introspection, all the things I wonder about when he's silent and unreadable. I could even hear his voice narrating while he ponders his own observations. Very well written, and thoroughly entertaining. I'm saving this one to read again!
Nom de Plume chapter 7 . 8/6/2013
If I could review every single chapter of this story, I would but I am afraid that all of the reviews would be a hot mess of BEAUTIFULAMAZINGOMGYES. Perhaps not in that exact order but very much so with the exact gist.
Really, if this series had more fans and people did not mind that this story does not have romance nor an actual plot, then I can truly say, without any doubt, that this story would have 10x more reviews and even more favs.

I'll be honest. Usually I read fanfictions for mostly the romance (AND the plot of course) but your story is exactly what reminds me of why I like to stray from the norm sometimes. Heck, it's the perfect example of why I am even on this site, lurking around. For one of the most enigmatic characters on that show, you hit him right on the head and through the board. His manner of speaking (even in his thoughts) and HOW he thinks, really, I would not be surprised if you had been one of the secret co-workers that helped make the show. That's how in tune you are with these characters. Sure, I am disappointed that I did not get to see from the other characters' perspectives but I cannot complain much.

What's more unusual is as much as Jin was learning from his experiences, I was learning some things myself. Fuu's sunflower metaphor and Jin's leaf epiphany were a great concoction on your part. They were very in character, very realistic to this story concept, and informative to the reader as well. It was obvious that you were very careful with your words, not one sentence or letter was wasted, everything was planned to either move the story forward or referred back to later. For instance, when Jin finally decides to sit 'informally' or even joke for the first time, my brain had immediately recalled that moment in the beginning when he was so adamant about not "wasting extraneous movement." Comparing these two instances now... brilliant and yet subtle development!

It's such a shame that you will probably not come back to this fandom, not to mention it seems like you stopped writing on this site altogether but for what it is worth, I thank you for completing AND sharing this baby with us. Hopefully, you shall keep writing, even if it's not here.

amber87 chapter 1 . 11/15/2011
"We're lost," Fuu says. "We are most definitely lost."

"Uh-huh. Lost," that ruffian replies.

"And do you know why we're lost, Mugen?"

"Yeah, but say it anyway."

"Because of Jin."

Can I just tell you how much I love this dialog. It made me laugh.
panii-pari chapter 7 . 5/2/2010
Oh gosh, I really loved this. Jin, Fuu and Mugen were all kept so in-character...amazing piece of work. I actually cannot think up the words to describe how much I loved this story...thank you for sharing this!
JadeRent chapter 7 . 2/27/2010
Ahh! That was a great story! Wow, it's 5 years old, so I'm not sure if you'll even read this review, but I just want to say how beautiful it was to experience. It capture beautifully those little moments of Samurai Champloo that made you think and wish...and fee. It's so hard to capture in words, but your story did it. I'm not even a big fan of Jin, but you drew me in with your perfect characterization. Ah, just wonderful! I hope whatever you're doing now is keeping you happy and well.
waiting4morning chapter 7 . 7/13/2009
Very well done. Jin, Mugen, and Fuu were all in-character, since and that's the most important thing to me in fanfic, I'm supremely happy to have found this. Thanks for writing!
Nicole Silverwolf chapter 7 . 4/17/2009
The humor and pacing in your storytelling is fantastic here. It feels just like this crazy series and Jin, Fuu and Mugen are wonderfully expanded on while remaining in character and true to their series self. Thanks so much for this, it's been on my fave list for a long time and I never reviewed...which is a shame!
obsessivesyndrome chapter 7 . 11/9/2008

nobody-nobody-nobody chapter 7 . 5/30/2008

It was like stained glass. A stained glass 4-D pretzel. Mebbe a tesseract. Eating itself, anyway. Keep writing!

Toodles,

DraejonSoul chapter 7 . 9/6/2006
I really should hurry growing up so I could write like you. I loved your simple descriptive narrative, and I can visualize how you love Jin enough to not insult him even when writing out his thoughts. You never fail to entertain and enthrall, Bee. And little folks like us are all the better for it. m(_ _)m
wellduh chapter 1 . 9/1/2006
Oh. PS. CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT I LOVE YOU.
wellduh chapter 7 . 9/1/2006
Incredible. Getting to the end of this story left me with that weird sad-but-delighted-enough-to-burst feeling you get at the end of all really good stories. Fanfic really doesn't so that to me often.

Adored imagery and stuff with leaves. Great symbolism and all that.

Great work.
