Reviews for Destiny Bearing
Sergeant Sargent II chapter 18 . 12/11/2016
Holy shit what a trip

Exasperated martin pleases me. As did dead fatefiend.

A story about protagonists wroth no morals. .. i love the idea, and you seem to be doing it perfectly. Nice work
Ripper22 chapter 17 . 5/18/2014
Hello there. You might recall me reading and reviewing this story a few years back. Now that I'm much older, I thought I'd go back and read most of the stories I marked for my favorites list.

First things first, this is one of the better stories I've read in my time here at ... hands down. The characterization was good, pacing was great, most of the characters were likable, reading the story a second time didn't make the story any less enjoyable ... but like all good stories there were a couple things that could have been changed or needed work.

It felt like too many important characters were the same species, particularly as an otter (Fallen, Redsplash, Havoc, etc.) which isn't a major issue, but just something I noticed on my second time reading the two stories.
Another issue that kind of bothered me while reading was how invincible half the characters appeared to be. For example, Redsplash, Rekth, Sade, and others. None of these characters appear to ever be in any real danger even in the most extreme circumstances and in the latter's case, survives beating after beating to the point where they feel like they're Superman or the Chosen One or something. I would understand if one or two of these were special in that regard, but several of them?
Also when I read the story a second time, one thing that I didn't like was with Redsplash's ominous dream that occured in chapter seventeen: after an immense build up like that and going into so much detail regarding her sociopathic dream and nothing happens as a result? I expected a major character death, at the very least, and not a single thing came from it. It felt like there should have been at least SOME repercussions for killing the badger lord.
One last thing that really upset me but wasn't really a flaw was the death of the beloved character Fatefiend. I can't explain what it was about him that caused me to enjoy his character so much... But when I was reading Destiny Bearing for the first time and Fate died in chapter six, I almost stopped reading because of what I thought the effect his death would have on the story's outcome. Instead I decided to tentatively keep reading and the story still turned out quite well despite Fate's absence for most of the story.

Like I said earlier in this review, this is still one of the best stories on this website despite the few minor flaws. You seem to have a real knack for chatty banter between your characters (for example, Redsplash & Root post-battle discussion, the heated altercations between Fate & Martin, the verbal battle between Rekth and Darkclaw, etc.). Another thing you excel at is keeping people hooked for what happens next. Every chapter seemed to end with an appropriate cliffhanger, enough to get me wanting to read the next chapter.

I know it's been ages since you've last updated anything or even visited the wesbite, but I would very much appreciate you coming back to finish up the series with the final story in the trilogy. I know it's been eight years, but one can hope. Also here's to hoping Fate makes at the very least a cameo in the third story,

Cap'n Tassie chapter 18 . 5/5/2013
I finished both Vengeance Born and Destiny Bearing in less than a day and I have to say you are one of my favorite writers on this site. I also have to say something else: *cries* WHY? Fatefiend was my favorite character and he died a somewhat stupid death (now, don't go around taking offense to this, I'm just sad that no one decided to stop him because it was obviously suicidal). I'm glad you still kept him around (you know, he shows up in dreams and all), but his death nearly made me stop reading this story (no, I'm not joking ewe). I didn't cry, but that was probably because I was worried someone would ask me what had happened and I really didn't want to answer them saying, "Oh, my favorite character in a story died."

Yeah, I kept expecting Fatefiend to just get up and dust himself off and say, "Just a broken wrist," or something with a little more wit put into it. I just kept reading, shocked because I did NOT expect you to kill him. I guess that means you are one darn good writer, but please, never do that to me again. Lol, and when Redsplash attacks the badger I was totally cheering her on. XD You know one's life is ultimately pointless and pathetic when they go around wanting revenge on a Badger Lord for killing someone (*cough* *cough* ME not Redsplash).

Well, I started hating Red a bit after a while because she kind of becomes too... whatever she became and I didn't like that. Darkclaw's a cool character and kind of dark and mysterious. I guess that I pretty much consider him my third favorite character. Second favorite? Gotta be Aysini and Rekth. Tied, yes. I just love their characters; really interesting personalities. Root? Aw, jeez li'l guy, you're just a little too drunk all the time for me to know you well enough. I mean I was never really able to pinpoint his personality, though he kind of became funny in a drunk way so MAYBE he's my third favorite, tied with Darkclaw. Maybe. And Sade? That's his name, right? Little too perfect/emotionless for me to feel any attachment or liking to him. Sorry 'bout that.

Yes, well, *ahem* I suppose I go riding gallantly off into the sunset now, never to be seen again? I mean, my review IS almost over. Heh, I'll go for a less heroic ending: let's say I just plan on reading more of your stories and giving you nice, fat reviews that can crush elephants on some of those beauties, eh? And maybe I'll read parts of Vengeance Born to get over my sadness that Fatefiend is truly dead. *sigh* Couldn't you have just made Martin sprinkle LiveGRO dust on Fatefiend, who then bursts out of his grave and says something witty to an awed but happy Redsplash? Just for sad little fangirls like me? Yes? No? Well, I suppose we can't get all fantasy-like in a fanfiction based off of a book that's only mildly fantasy-like to the extent that animals wear clothes, walk on two legs, and can speak English; magical spirit LiveGRO dust does not fit into that "mild fantasy" category I suppose. *sigh* Oh well. I tried.

Ta ta for the time being,

Fell's Apprentice chapter 18 . 6/1/2012
Is it just me or is this story really just as emotionally touching the umpteenth time one reads it as the first time?
Ireland Ranger chapter 18 . 3/24/2012

Ireland Ranger chapter 10 . 3/22/2012

Ireland Ranger chapter 6 . 3/22/2012
I cannot believe you killed my favorite character! Why why why why why why why why? WHY! grrrr it wont be the same without Fate!-excuse me while I go commit suicide over the fact that my favorite character died...be back in a minute...
animelvr now Professor Evans chapter 1 . 4/25/2011
Dear god, you still make me want to rip Darkclaw's heart out... And Martin's. YOU ACTUALLY MADE HIM MORE SADISTIC THAN MY VERSION! And I STILL WANT TO KILL HIM! IN A RIP OUT HIS LIVER, GOUGE OUT HIS EYEBALLS, TEAR OFF HIS FUR, AND SHOVE HIS SWORD UP HIS ASS INTO HIS BRAIN TYPE KILLING!
animelvr chapter 6 . 6/10/2010
WHAT. THE. HELL? Let's see. Fate died bc of the badger. darkclaw is IMMORAL. Martin is acting like Darkclaw. ONLY WORSE. HE- WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU DO? THIS "NO FEELINGS KILL AND USE EVERYONE" CRAP JUST BECAME SICKENING! GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH! *dies*
Addlebrain chapter 5 . 5/7/2010
This isn't humor without Fatefiend, darn. This sucks really bad, wish he would sit up and tell them it was a joke...

Like i said, it ain't funny without Fatefiend.
jade trickster chapter 18 . 10/15/2008
i really, really love the redsplash stories. all your stories, actually. usually, i dont read stuff like this, but your writing, characters, and plots are so amazing that your stories make the exception. the moral issues/arguments are pretty darn fantastic. so is the plot. i already said that, didn't i? so, dunno if you were lookin' for concrit, but either way, you've got a few grammar mistakes- too instead of to, or vice versa, and your/you're mix-ups and stuff like that. That said, these fics are still brilliant. i wish you'd developed the 'redsplash and fatefiend aren't as stupid as they act' thing a bit more, and i'm dying to hear the back stories (and what happens next! gah) of all of your characters, though. So, PLEASE (beggin' on bended knee here...) write a sequel! i definitely understand that real life can interfere...but have pity. the suspense will kill me.

Ripper22 chapter 18 . 6/17/2008
This IS the greatest Adventure story I have read ever at Fanfiction. But...Why'd Fatefiend have to die? He was my favorite character!
storiewriter chapter 18 . 7/24/2007
Good job.

Yes, I read this one first, but am planning to read the other next. Almost like I would a prequeal to any story.

Goin' on to the 'first' one.
Anoyomous chapter 18 . 10/15/2006
Wow.. This story was quite frankly amazing. I've grown to love Redsplash and her crazy ways. And it was so sad when Fate died.. But, anyway. You're an amazing author. I can't wait for the next story now.
Cacrocks1 chapter 18 . 7/10/2006
*whistles quietly* Wow. Just wow. Great ending! And I had no trouble following despite months since I last read any of this (and yes, I decided to finish thsi before getting back to Honor and crew) So I'm extremely curious about all of this, really and honestly and as I've said before, I love your writing. Fatefiend is amazing, I love his fight with Martin as well as all the hints in that.

The fact that Sade, Root and Red burned Darkclaw's tent just for the hell of it was hilarious. Can't wait to see how this all turns out in the third one! Sade is completely off his rocker and I definitely don't understand all of him but he's crazy and fun however. *shakes head* Root makes me laugh as always and I can see where you would have found this chapter fun to write. It definitely has that ring to it. And Root's idea of breaking in and stealing their cook *laughs for a while* Poor squirrel should have learned by now not to go suggesting things like that. I want to know who Sade's brother is too, obviously, although I almost feel like we've probably met him, knowing you. *pokes Sade for good measure* Darkclaw and Root's conversation was amusing as well *grins*

Yay for this chapter! Great work!
