An interesting story. The reason why Thranduil enslaved his own son is quite vague. Why would Elrond send Herendil - and maybe later Legolas - back if he knows how they were being treated in Mirkwood? Why doesn't he search dialogue with the king to see whether Thranduil can be talked out of slave keeping?

Hi! So I'm not sure that you'll ever see this comment, but I wanted to let you know that this fic is so important to me. I remember reading it as a teenager when I was dealing with being abused by a family member over a long period of time and then after it stopped, and it was just so important to me? Lots of people who are smarter than I am have written about why reading about abuse can be so cathartic for abuse victims. But reading this helped. I was so alone. Being a teenager is traumatic enough without being abused, but I was abused, too, and reading about a character I admired going through something awful and still being strong was

I keep coming back to the word "important." And I just don't have the words to explain why, and I wish I did because I want you to know that I will never forget about this fic. I don't even read or publish on this site anymore, but I come back occasionally to reread this and the sequel. So I just wanted to say thank you for writing this. Again, I'm not sure if you'll see this review, and I don't have an account anymore, so I don't think I'll ever see if you replied, but I just wanted to put this message out in the universe and hope you know how much your writing has meant to me.
