This. This is beautiful. I love it, and I'd love to read more. If you're out there, please post a follow-up.
Otto's Goat chapter 1 . 12/11/2004
Going on my favorites?

Why of course...

I've typed every combination on this site for something with Rand's work- result? Not very much. I came across this by sheer luck...

It's Roark alright, and what an interesting combo, Tolkien and Rand...

The only thing I slightly disagree with is your last line, and I'm not sure I can really say I 'disagree'... Though I love his last words, knowing Roark, it seems he would probably say something more along the lines of: "He doesn't fall."

Unless,of course, you're trying to say that he's only saying “Better to fall than to never have flown at all" for the sake of others; as though he (Roark) would never imagine of failing/falling.

But beautiful, beautiful... kudos (bar!) to you!
Raksha The Demon chapter 1 . 4/30/2004
What a delightful notion, Maglor meeting the young Howard Roark! Very well done.
Anne chapter 1 . 6/26/2003
After reading this I am extremely curious about "The Fountainhead." I have never read any of Ayn Rand's work, but I've heard summaries of her general philosophy here and there.

I would have thought it impossible to, in the process of preaching this kind of possessive ambition, leave someone like Maglor at a loss. Maglor, who was caught up in the air current of Feanor's "flight", and left in the residual debris of his "fall." Now that this impressive piece of work has proven otherwise, I'm off to pester a buddy for his copy of "The Fountainhead."

Thank you for sharing. Great Work!
Joan Milligan chapter 1 . 6/18/2003
Valar, Jen, you've done it, you've actually pulled it off. I didn't think it was possible. Valar, you're a genius and I love you. You've actually gone and done it and it's disturbing and beautiful and in-character. Unbelievable.
