I really like the attention to detail for the setting in the port town! The note section about your research into the history of the area was really nice. I also like reading about Sanemi's adventures and what will probably be his climb up the ranks. Sanemi's inner thoughts are all so sassy, I think it really fits him. Glad you done your research in there! This made the story more beliveable and convincing because we also catch the nearest accurate glimpse of what late Meiji until early Taisho era looks like. Other authors just don't care about small details and just smash it along, which will backfire them later on. This way, you can impressed the readers who love and learn history and culture in the past.

I wasn't expected for a spin off. But it is a fun read nonetheless. From what I saw in the chapter, you should consider change the rate to M for gore and blood or give a warning about bloody scenes, just to be safe.
