Reviews for Light at the end of the tunnel
civilwarrose chapter 12 . 7/29
Oh this was horrible. Such evil.
civilwarrose chapter 11 . 7/29
The argument between the Big Pair of which one should go with Alexei was heartwrenching. I like how you wrote Olga's headstrong nature. It's sad to see the siblings separate. Looking forward to what happens with Olga and Alexei's journey, and the three girls left behind.
JustDerkT chapter 24 . 7/25
Looks like Olga is slowly realizing the ugly truth that most people look out for only themselves.

Do not worry about getting the dialogue perfectly authentic. The overall idea matters most. One thing to notice about upper class people or royalty is that they hardly use contractions like "can't" or "it's". I hope that helped!
civilwarrose chapter 10 . 7/20
This is an unexpected turn of events! Why do they want to separate Alexei away from the sisters? How cruel.
I liked how you showed how traumatized they were, especially Alexei. Tatiana is such a caretaker. Olga had good ideas to try to explain how Alexei wouldn't be a threat. Maria is heartbroken at the thought of her brother being taken away, her reaction is so realistic. When Anastasia finds out about this, I'm sure she'd like to kick those guys in the you-know-what.
civilwarrose chapter 7 . 7/19
I loved this chapter! Alexei is kind to take the blame for Anastasia shooting the guard with a slingshot. Very clever of her to sneak some remaining diamonds in her mouth and hide them in her shoes while still crying for her parents.
I have the feeling if Antonovich wasn't in charge, Tabakov would have done something mean to them in spite. He might still try. On to the next chapter...
civilwarrose chapter 4 . 7/19
I'm really loving this alternative history! After reading all the articles on the anniversary of the Romanov murders this week, it was so saddening all over again. This story is a nice escape.

And oh, wow! In this chapter, Yurovsky is so eye-roll worthy- "Then I saw something that really infuriated me, the guards putting jewels in their pockets." Yurovsky- you think you're being all kind and benevolent sparing the Romanov kids! But you get more angry about your men pocketing the jewels than you do about them groping young girls? Sure...

Anyway, glad I found this story and I will keep reading on!
JustDerkT chapter 23 . 7/13
Certainly, OTMA will live past WWII, but Alexei might be killed by the Bolsheviks. The effects of the Romanov children surviving might have an effect on WWII politics. but not very much. I am unsure how Hitler may interact with the Romanovs. Perhaps OTMA may flee to England or stay in Russia to help rebuild its government.

I believe that the Big Pair will grow into highly successful women in their society because their futures literally shine bright. Anastasia and Maria will live, but something tragic will happen to them. Perhaps the dim star might mean that Maria suffers from depression from a tragedy. Losing a child could be a possibility of Maria's depression since it goes against her dreams of being a mother. For Anastasia, the nothingness could either mean that she becomes forgotten, or her future is still changing.

It is realistic to see OTMA go in different paths in this alternate timeline. If they grew up, they would no doubt go their separate ways. Anyways, I really enjoyed this chapter, it really gets the reader thinking!
JustDerkT chapter 21 . 6/27
I believe that the Whites may get Alexei at this point. This will give them a figure to rally around. Also, it is good to know that the British agents have found Olga's sisters' location! I wonder if we will see a confrontation between the Cheka and the agents once the agents get there.
JustDerkT chapter 17 . 5/26
Anastasia being the prankster and mischievous one as always! I've seen Grand Duchess Tatiana as very devout as well, based on the alexander-palace site. She seems in character.

I am looking forward to the next chapter, where did Alexei go?
JustDerkT chapter 15 . 5/11
With a few typos aside, I really enjoyed this chapter. The stakes have really risen with Alexei captured!
JustDerkT chapter 14 . 4/29
Sergei must be a very skilled storyteller to have persuaded those three red guards. Anyways, I am glad to see Olga and Alexei make it out of that pinch! But, do not forget about the other three sisters back at Perm. I wonder what happened to them...
JustDerkT chapter 12 . 4/19
Sorry for the late review, but I assure you that I'm still reading this great fanfiction. I'm glad to see that the British are doing more to help the Russian royal family, unlike in the original timeline.
JustDerkT chapter 8 . 4/9
I feel sorry for Alexei, especially Olga. Her bravery to accompany her brother, despite the guards' abuse, is astounding!
ElyzabetShardlake chapter 7 . 4/7
Brave Olga! Well done! Please keep updating!
JustDerkT chapter 7 . 4/6
The plot gets more interesting. I did not expect one of the sisters to be separated from the other three to accompany Alexei! Now I wonder what the top Bolsheviks like Lenin or Trotsky will do with the two in Moscow.
