It was a nice story and I'm glad we get to see more of Zani. i've never been a fan of Elnor, I just think he's Picard's puppy but you managed to make him interesting.
I miss some good Romulan stories and I wonder, did you delete some of your bc I can't find some I use to like ? A lot of Romulan stories disappear in this website.
I hope you'll write some other, maybe with your own character ? Or Narek ?

A great ending!

I especially liked the gift of the rapier. It ties in the Three Musketeers story from the beginning of the TV series and really brings this story full circle.

All in all a very enjoyable read that I will look forward to reading again very soon.

I wasn't a big fan of Tristan to be honest. Not because he was written badly, but because he was written too well. So, I enjoyed watching him get knocked flat. That said, it's good to see him get back on his feet, adapt, and plot a new course. I expect he'll turn out well.

Great lines (among many) are:
Tristan folded his arms. "We are not going back to Vashti."
"As fate would have it," Tristan continued, "you're not a hayseed."

And, also the great exchange between Guinan and Julene.
"Prune Juice?"
"Of course!" Guaranteed to tame the wildest of warriors."

Hearing about Picard's death made me gasp, but then I figured the story must be AU ;-)

What I find fascinating about Elnor is that he's such a warrior - decisive as you say - but he has also that vulnerable side of a teenager. I think you're getting that across really well. :)

I think this may be my favorite chapter so far. There are, as always, a lot of great lines.
Tristan gritted his teeth. "The crook still wants his ransom."
"And now he has both of you." Elnor remarked gravely.

"Stay close to me," he told her quietly. "I'll protect you, my love."
Now that's Romance with a capital 'R'.

And, there are also a lot of great surprises.

Wow Tristan is a manipulator! I hope Julene does not choose him! Elnor is wonderful I love how you write him! Good story please update!

I really enjoy how you add these old songs to your story. I also loved the imagery in the scene of Julene "pulling" the ropes with the aid of the sailors who are really doing the heavy lifting.

The small flashback scene with Tristan and Julene in their first conversation about duty, honor, and free will was fun to read. It lent a lot of insight into their relationship. It made Tristan more personable. But, in true Tristan fashion, we also see with Julene how calculating he is - or, perhaps, has become? Clearly being royalty isn't all fun and games.

Then, we have the triangle. Tristan and Elnor both want Julene. Julene wants Elnor. Elnor wants Julene. Tristan expected to marry Julene, but has now bowed to the inevitable. She doesn't want him. Romance has won!

But, has Tristan given up? I have my doubts. I think Elnor does too. I'm looking forward to having this one play out.

"They're going to follow him?" Elnor said, astonished.

Great chapter! Lots of good moments.

Perhaps Tristan could have told his childhood sweetheart his feelings a little bit sooner. That would have headed off these pesky little problems - like her falling in love with someone else. Of course, now would have been a good time to correct the misunderstanding. But, all we hear from the prince is crickets!

I'm looking forward to how this plays out.

Elnor retorting that he never missed a religious ceremony was hilarious! Can't wait to see how this conflict develops...

I like how they all sang - although, it seems like it was more in desperation than what James had in mind. ;) But, Tristan makes it thorough that ordeal only to find another crisis waiting for him. I'll bet it's a long time before he heads out on missions of any kind!

Julie escapes from one enemy and runs into a different sort of foe. I liked the monster in the woods part. It was nice to get an image after the hints that had been dropped about the dangers out there.

And, then Elnor comes to the rescue! He finally gets it his moment.

Of course, we'll just see what Tristan has to say about this. :)

Since we saw Elnor with the Quot Milat when Picard came, I know that story can't end with Elnor happily married to Julene. I wonder how this will develop...
