Reviews for Survivor Crossover - Tropics!
KoopalingFan chapter 4 . 7/30
First of all, I would like to say that I'm really happy for you about Fanfiction moderators finally stepping and doing their job by removing all those spam reviews. Though like how one of my stories's favorite count, your review count for both of your stories seems to be messed up. My review count for that story of mine also had a messed up review and follower count, but I think after I clicked on one of the users that led to the site telling me that they're no longer an active member on here, it suddenly went back to normal. I don't really know if that really helps anything, especially since all that is messed up is your review count, so I guess it's kinda bittersweet. Hopefully something like this never happens again.

Now onto the actual chapter (and by the time, I often like to review every chapter of peoples' stories individually). I'd rather review them all separately just for the sake of talking about the main things of each one, and it also boosts the review count. So maybe I can help counter the spammer lol.

So anyway, I used to think that Gruntilda was going to be a rather interesting villain to watch, but after the challenge she began to annoy people which completely killed it for her. Bummer. But lemme briefly talk about Laau Pama for a second. Do I even have to elaborate on Johnny SOMEHOW thinking that... Falcon betrayed him because he didn't use his idol on him? What? Okay, Johnny, I understand that he didn't use his idol on you, but you didn't even receive the majority of the votes so it didn't even matter. Did you really think anything good come of Falcon WASTING his idol on you? ...I'm near speechless lol. But at this point, nothing will surprise me of what Johnny does anymore. I dunno if it's his ego or he's just... plain stupid. Now Samus wants to take advantage of you by voting probably you're ONLY ALLY out of the game lol. He's a really bad player and this is only episode TWO lol.

Now here comes the main thing I wanna talk about. I'm speechless of how many twists there were in this one episode here. And actually not in a good way at all. Sonic gets randomly picked to sit out of the challenge, Geoffrey gets to vote not one, not two, but THREE times at Tribal Council, and... THREE people are immune from being voted out from tribal just because they were the final three remaining in the challenge?

Okay, I'm not one of those Survivor fans who thinks the show should go back to basics with literally no idols, no tribe switches, no nothing, because at this point in the series you kinda have to spice things up a bit, especially since the show is 20 years old and still going on to this day, but I think there is such a thing as... too much. In my first season I thought two unnecessary twists that didn't really need to be there (that I will not spoil) were a little too much, but here? Alright, I was giving the whole Idol System in this story a pass just to see how it plays out, but I just felt like none of them were really necessary. All the winning team had to do was to briefly talk among themselves about who was going to sit out for today's challenge, but Sonic literally gets randomly picked to sit out of the challenge and they end up losing because of it. I also really don't see a point of having THREE people being immune at tribal solely because they placed top 3 in the challenge. Now in the real series it's always interesting and exciting to see multiple people being immune at tribal based off the circumstances, but here, just because they were the best at the challenge? And then Geoffrey gets not one, but TWO advantages by not only being immune, but having to vote thrice at the Tribal Council. Like, it really is a little bit much to say the least.

Alright I've talked a bit on that, so with that out of the way, to sum this all up is that not counting the overload on twists and advantages here, this chapter ain't actually that bad. But maybe in future seasons, I HIGHLY recommend try lightening up on the twists just a little bit. If you want my further advice on this, PM is always open as usual.

Alright, so i finally managed to get back to this after so long. I guess Dr. Eggman had a rather satisfying elimination, even though i would have preferred it to be stupid Johnny Bravo.

The challenge itself was nice, though a bit simple for a first immunity challenge. Yet I bet it would have worked perfectly for any other challenge.

As for the Laau Pama team, Samus openly admits that Jonny should go home literally right in front of his face, and Wii Fit Trainer for literally no reason votes for Peter. "I think I have to make this one a little bit random just in case I get penalized for not voting in time." ...Like, girl, you do realize that something like that has consequences right? Worse case scenario you would have a major target on your back. That was so not smart lol. You had all day.

As for Falcon, he was pretty much a main character for this episode. He didn't even need to use his idol since he managed to convince everyone to vote for Eggman. He's clearly playing the best game of the entire cast, but I'm afraid he would have a huge target on his back if he hasn't already since he's playing this big of a game early on. Really hop e Johnny gets eliminated soon.

Oh and also, one more thing is that of how you blatantly tell the audience who the entire tribe is voting for. In some cases, there are castaways that openly admit who they are voting for in a confessional for a certain reason, or they reveal their vote in a voting confessional, or in an extremely rare case (don't know if you've watched Survivor - Micronesia and I don't wanna spoil), they've shown every single voting confessional for the person about to be eliminated (mainly based on the situation a certain character was in). But for this one, I didn't think that was really necessary to blatantly tell the audience of who 8 of the 10 castaways who they were voting for before the Tribal Council. I know it seemed rather obvious anyway, but even if, say if there was a potential blindside in the making for a future Tribal Council, the best thing to do is to keep the audience guessing.

I'll keep R&Ring. Though it's good to see that more people are checking this out.

I just finished this season and I'm going to start Dry Dry Desert! This is a real good story! Keep making more of these please!
HaruLupa chapter 1 . 6/29
I gotta admit, you've got a crazy good handle on dialogue. I don't know all of these characters, but the ones I do have a GREAT voice on them in this fic. I really do applaud you for the intriguing premises and polished dialogue skills. A really good read if I do say so myself.
KoopalingFan chapter 2 . 2/27
Alright, so episode one here.

So firstly, of all people, I'd say I'm gonna root for Captain Falcon. (Oh, and while I'm at it, the other reason to why I'm gonna be watching over certain players like the one I pointed out last chapter is because some of these are also contestants of my two stories, with most of the ones that I'm familiar with being in Survivor - Kodai Island (Captain Falcon, Mario, Sonic, Samus)) But anyways with Falcon, I think that he'll generally be a satisfying player to watch. Him telling off Johnny Bravo was so pleasing to see lol, since by his actions so far on day ONE lol, clearly he's not going to be the sharpest tool in the shed. Nonetheless, Falcon could actually be making a smart move by actually working with him. Since he's already targeted by Samus, maybe Falcon using him as a shield would benefit him (even though I highly doubt I'll care for Johnny Bravo that much at this state. He's already giving signs that he'll be a major problem lol.)

As for the other tribe, I am actually considering on rooting for Gruntilda of all people. I've heard of her thanks to me being aware of the Banjo & Kazooie franchise, but I don't actually know her like that other than her being the main villain of the game. But Gruntilda giving vibes that she might possible play an under the radar game is really gaining my interest. And considering how much is going on at the camp on the very first day of the game, I guess she kinda has too lol.

So apparently there's this "Idol of Attack" which apparently allows you to vote not once, not twice, but thrice, so basically like a Secret Advantage in the actual show. And by the looks of it, these people clearly don't know how to handle idols lol. Curious to see when/if Falcon decides to use his. I am also being curious over who will receive the idol that negates a person's votes (in other words, like how most idols are used on the show).

And oh, I remember you PMing me about any criticisms that I could give. In all honestly, I do see you having potential here. I think for starters you just need more experience with writing (I remember how I first started to write here myself so don't worry lol)

I'll keep reading and reviewing as usual.
KoopalingFan chapter 1 . 2/27
Such a shame that this only has one review. I guess I gotta help out lol.

My name is KoopalingFan (though my name these days is still that only because I've been known by that for so long).

I am actually going to follow along with this. See, I make Survivor fanfics as well. (Nearing the end of season two) and I caught word of this fic thanks to it being added in a community filled with Sirvivor fics like both of my stories. And I can see you took the time to allow people who have never been aware of the game before have a chance to get a feel of the show. I took a similar approach in my fics with the author's notes whenever something new in the game comes up, and then they learn as they go.

Very curious to see how Mario, Falcon, Eugene, Samus, Sonic, Gruntilda, Dedede, Little Mac, Wario, and Squidward would do since those are the ones I am most familiar with. But I am curious about the others as well.

I'm gonna keep on reviewing when I can, and we can even PM each other if you want!
BoltDMC chapter 5 . 1/11
Saw your subreddit post about this and decided to pop in and take a look. Gotta say, you’ve got a great premise, and the enthusiastic fun you’re having writing this pokes through everywhere. Given that I’m reading fandom-blind for many of the characters, things get bewildering at times, but that’s my issue, not yours to be concerned about. Especially like the deliberately hokey feel to the overall proceedings — I mean, it’s a parody, right? And of a show that fully merits lampooning, I might add.

Don’t stop, you’re on a roll.
