Reviews for The Opposite of Good is Drowning
goldenstoryteller chapter 6 . 1/30
This story is really good! I'd love to continue reading about Sakura's journey! I hope you made the other story were Sakura is at the chunnin Exams or if your working on that now- But even if you don't, I just want you to know that this story was incredibly well written! Good Job!
Spirit Seer chapter 6 . 1/25
I think this experimental style really worked for conveying Sakura's child mind. As a kid, you notice so much but so little at the same time, so I feel like this style captures that, so much intensity and the moments that most stand out within a short space. You feel her world get turned upside down, placed in a strange new (but well-developed) world, and then still upside down even though she's back where she began. Case in point: She starts off laughing and giggling, leaving behind bullies for a future husband, and ends up back with the now-not-so-scary bullies but the declaration that she'll be a "Killer of Monsters." I don't think that she'll be a shy little girl who hides behind her hair this time around. (And while I wouldn't want to relive ALL of her Academy days, I wouldn't mind getting at least some cursory flashback information in that potential sequel that hints at the differences between this AU Sakura and canon Sakura. But you did a really great job at writing things in the background in this one, so I think it's unlikely you'll overload.)

A sequel would be very interesting. She's learning a skill like Temari's, and I think that's really cool because, of all the Sakura variations I've seen or read, I haven't seen or read this one before. I wonder how well Sakura will be able to teach herself. Did her mother learn enough to be able to help/teach Sakura and/or make new fans? It's implied not, so despite her determination, I wonder how far she can go just by herself (and Mochi, of course; I'm glad they're finally getting along, despite the rocky start). Maybe her less fangirlish-ness will entice Sasuke to practice fire jutsu/train with her, particularly if they have a friendly meeting before the massacre. But meeting Gaara again begs the questions of how each will react and, of course, the reminder about the engagement that did not actually end since he didn't actually die. Despite Sakura's family escaping the clan for a second time, a Chunin Exam arc necessitates their rediscovery, which promises explosiveness outside of the likely-still-happening invasion.

There was a surprisingly intense story hiding under that disarming cuteness. Thanks for a really unique read. Here's hoping that you post that sequel~
ParadiseOfEden chapter 6 . 12/26/2019
Please do write a sequel! I'd be very excited to see Gaara's reaction to Sakura at the Chuunin exams and generally Sakura's own progress, she'll be kickass for sure. As to what I liked about the story: the worldbuilding is unique and I love any story that gives Sakura proper motivation to be the ninja we all know she can be. Hopefully you'll find the time to continue this!
Hyuuga Tenten n.n chapter 6 . 11/17/2019
Oh my god, yes please!
I would die to get a second part. I'm so in love with this story, but their reunion was all I've been waiting for, to bad that it isn't here yet. Even so, The opposite of good is drowning deserves all the praise. You are an amazing writter!
Distant Voice chapter 6 . 11/16/2019
Welp, that’s it? I didn’t get my fill yet of kid Sakura and Gaara cuteness. The part about the rock breaks me a little. I like how the intensity of the characters’ emotions could be felt through these small details using these symbolic objects, rather than some outright grand display. Looking forward to part two, especially how their interactions will unfold!
Urara chan chapter 6 . 11/10/2019
Awww those sweet babies, I'm curious on where the will go, keep up the good work
lyndyloowho chapter 6 . 11/9/2019
I LOVE THIS
TubbyPusheen chapter 6 . 11/7/2019
Loved it was very suspenseful and gave me so many emotions
Nanami chapter 6 . 11/7/2019
Ok, the end gives me hope that Sakura will get strong, but the goodbye has me with tears, they couldn't even say Goodbye, and I'm curious Gaara murdered Yashamaru as in the canon.
Sakura's impression of seeing Gaara disappear in Shukaku, I leave her in a horrible shock that either drives her to be strong or will hurt her, she doesn't really expect that kind of farewell, she will remain the long-distance fiancée or that didn't work out And only the memory of a possibility of romance remains?
I like the idea the Killer of Monsters...
Please continue this story short and distant.
Thank you very much for writing.
Blessings.

Nanami chapter 5 . 11/7/2019
It's tragic, the exchange of gifts made it clear to me that you are going to separate them,
It is a pity that they do not see how well it makes Gaara have a friend, even if she is her future fiancé, because I have the feeling that the commitment was not made and only Gaara will have the memory, you already made me cry to think of the Goodbye.
I hope you are kind, since I only have to read one chapter and I finish, will this be a true series?
God I hope so.
Thansk for writing.

Nanami chapter 4 . 11/7/2019
I was hoping that Gaara could stop suffering but it is hard, he is really in deep trauma because of his village, politics ruins that possibility of happiness with Sakura, I do not deny it I hope for a happy ending where they can be happy, I really hope you write when you are adults but I think it will not be possible for what I have seen so far, there are only two chapters left to read and I am already suffering, you have a plot so captivating that it hurts, I like the time you use as well as the culture of clans in which Sakura is at the order of her grandmother, Suna is an unfair village but I think you portray it as Kishimoto did to Naruto, it is unfair but realistic, it really is great to read the quality of writing you do in so few words That is why I love reading you, you make me suffer and love that suffering, and I think that I am becoming a masochist, I really appreciate you writing.

Live The GaaSaku Forever!
Nanami chapter 3 . 11/7/2019
I have already told you that I like to read you, and that you make the GaaSaku more beautiful, tender, dramatic, great, and dangerously political that I have read, I am really happy to be able to read your finished work because you have me with the greatest intrigue in the world. Thank you for writing please I encourage you to continue writing about this couple, you really have talent.
I love Sakura and her fan.

SorrowfulAnjel chapter 4 . 11/6/2019
You made my day! I can't believe your a Mink Man fan too! It's too cool how he trains them to help the environment by taking out pests, and he truly loves them! His first was a big red buck that he choose from a farm and he choose him because the buck latched onto the glove and he couldn't get him off. Mink man said that was a good friend and a great hunting partner - the buck even went after a dog that was helping flush out the rabbits and rats when the dog messed up the bucks hunt, luckily the cattle dog was smart and fast enough to move and get out of the bucks way! That's exactly how mink behave too, how you described. They are super mouthy as kits and can be super rough and have this huge personality! Oh gosh I can't wait to see what happens next!
