Given the subject matter it wouldn't really be right to say I 'enjoyed' that but I did like seeing some follow up to the end of the episode and the bond between Morse and Thursday (and Win) which we saw here was definitely heart-warming.

You did a good job of keeping both Morse and Thursday in character, despite the circumstances. We've never of course seen them quite this emotional - especially in Morse's case - but here it feels understandable, given what he's been through, and Thursday's reactions really help because they are so 'normal' and remain true to what we've seen of him on-screen.

It's easy to go over the top in these sort of scenarios but you didn't do that, and even both times Morse broke down didn't feel like too much. Kudos too for giving Thursday a moment to admit how hard it was for him as well, seeing Morse suffer like that and being able to do very little to help at the time.

I'm not sure if this is intended as a one-shot (the story isn't listed as complete) and if not I'd be happy to read more. If it is, then I'm glad to have this as a touching addition to what is already one of my favourite episodes, so thank you :)

Great follow-up for "Canticle". Win's warm pragmatism and Thursday's gentleness were spot-on. His WWII veteran's memories were poignant.
