I am in awe at how you managed to write something so funny, so wholesome and so *sad* all at the same time. One of the rare stories that have actually made me laugh out loud! The plot, the dialogue and (especially) the characterisation were all simply perfect! Vader and Luke were so in character; nothing felt out of place. It was an absolute joy to read their antagonistic back and forth; Luke's reluctance to accept his father despite having longed for him for so long, and Vader's unwillingness to lose his son again was perfectly encapsulated. The pinecone doesn't fall far from the tree indeed...
Although figures it would take some sort of life threatening situation for them to finally have a heart to heart. XD
This is definitely a fic I'll be coming back to often.

Oh that was great, such a roller coaster of emotions! Talking with Vader is kind of like a minefield, isn't it? Well, a minefield in which you can see plenty of the mines and the safe path is quite clear, but the safe path leads to the dark side so you prefer to step on some of the mines anyway.
I was worried often when Luke said something that soured Vader's mood, but I was also glad because of course Luke wouldn't just say what Vader wants to hear. And it was hilarious when he was annoying Vader. Hey, I think you have all the rights to be childish at 22! Or even older. Ha, and when Vader showed off his sense of humour! :D
Ah and then there were parts later on where I teared up. Their lives in relation to their relationship are so messed up (well and also in other ways, but this is what it was about).
I was wondering how this fic could end, considering it wasn't that long to offer the time for some daring escape from Vader's ship that Luke could try and also you said it could be canon-compliant so obviously it couldn't end with something drastic that would greatly influence future events. So the ending was... a very pleasant surprise. For Luke too, clearly.
And yeah, it could go the canon route, but it sure has a great potential for canon divergence too. Even if Vader promised not to use what Luke said against Luke, the talk did happen and they both must be affected by it.

The "enemies stuck together" trope is always a delight to read, them being father and son to boot makes it even better. I was excited when I read the premise and the fic didn't let me down :)
