I love this so far do keep up the good work.

Man, one day of searching for dark souls fanfic this one was the best one to start. The writing was top notch compared to some of the fanfic I read. The interactions of the characters were spot on especially Ruby and Ashen. Cant wait for a new update soon, no rush at all stay safe dude.

P.S- This is only a suggestion but can Ashen at some point leave his spot to move on to his probably last adventure without warning and Ruby is very determined to find him and bring him back to her. I don't know why but I feel like this could build the bond between them further. But like I said its only a "small" suggestion to give the story more kick. But other then that its a great story. Bye Bye.

This story is a fascinating read so far. The interactions between Ruby and Ashen are interesting and in their own way wholesome.

Just binged this story tonight. This fic is absolutely beautiful. One of the best Dark Souls crossover fanfic I've ever read on this site.

So, I gotta say very few stories do slow pace his good, specially crossovers, of which I gotta say this is one of the best Dark Souls ones. Hope you're not as stressed out abouth things as you said you were. Nevertheless kudos for you in this trying times good sir! Hope you keep up the good work!

Damn, really nice chapter. It's nice to see how the rest of Ruby's family is reacting to her friendship, the question that remains is whether or not Yang will meet Ashen by the end (or after) of the two years (I'm betting on a 'no' but you never know.)

Overall, albeit short, it was a nice chapter, thanks for it.

Ooo this was a good chapter, makes me even more excited to see how this friendship with Ashen changes her in the future :D Nice reference to how in DS1 the Chosen Undead helps the continuation of Artorias' story :) Looking forward to the next chapter!

I would highly recommend reading this story. It has nice, slow pacing and good atmosphere. This is a story that puts character interaction above cliches you would see in a typical fanfic like power levels, romance, and hitting focal points to quickly.
From here on out there will be spoilers, so that's all I have. Give this story a chance.

As for the author, here are my thoughts.

I would have to say this story's greatest strong point so far is it's melancholic atmosphere. It's something I would expect (because it IS Dark Souls) but it is extremely well executed. The main duo's interactions feel fleeting and something that wouldn't last. Our DS protagonist himself, and the tomb he guards essentially being the last remnant(heh) of his world. The fact that this takes place during Ruby's childhood, the time where many adults look back to. These 10 chapters are brilliant. Now, I wonder if it'll start to change once we hit canon. Either way, I'd be fine with it as long as it's executed well.

As for writing, it is overall competent and gets the job done. Some parts though I really like, for example that perspective shift in chapter 10, very smooth author. Other than that I dont go much on the technical aspects of writing, I mainly focus on the story, and I really like this so far.

For suggestions I don't think I have any right now. I can see you've already decided to approach the end of the 2 years and I'll have to wait and see how you handle canon so in the meantime I will simply say to keep doing what you're doing. I REALLY look forward to the next chapter.

sweet story, the fluffiness of Ashen and Ruby’s interactions is nice. Cool twist that Ashen has assumed the identity of some heroes to fulfill their legends (more trauma for the poor guy, those were probably his students).
I wonder if Patches will kick someone off a ledge? (He’s still around, right?)
I’m looking forward to when canon starts, since Ashen will probably decide to gank spank the Grimm after the Vytal Festival ( it seems like he’ll try to help out if it looks like humanity is in danger of extinction.) Then we can see Ashen throw around lightning, shoot fire from his hands, and turn into a pot!
Speaking of magic, one of the things I hope doesn’t happen in this story is that the RWBY cast somehow gains sorceries/ miracles/ pyromancies from Ashen. It’s believable that Ashen would have given his earlier students some of his weapons that he doesn’t need (Deep battle axe, I’m lookin at you!), but it makes little to no sense that the people of Remnant could learn magic from Ashen and use spells since Ashen uses them by both artificially increasing his stats via sovereignless souls(Leveling is an Undead only thing) and using a catalyst(he’s probably not gonna be handing out those willy-nilly). Again, please don’t make them learn magic.

Pretty short chapter, but great quality and characterization, definitely looking forward to the next chapter. Also, I'm liking the new cover art, very wholesome.
