Reviews for The Gravest Intentions

This is such a good story so far. I love the idea that L and G work together as the house’s leading caretakers. It’s awesome! I already love your writing too!

It’s rare that a great Haunted Mansion story appears on the Internet, but in all honesty I think this is the best one I’ve come across yet. Keep writing! I love these characters, this ride, and this story and I love the direction you’re taking it in even more!

A new piece in the THP-verse has dropped and I am ecstatic. I've been waiting in anticipation for this series and I'm excited to finally read the first chapter in this saga.

Little Leota I'd consider to be the breakout character in THP. To my knowledge she had only ONE scene she was featured in in The Happiest Place, but from that scene alone you got a great sense of her presence and her personality. That's impressive.

Plus she immediately struck out to me by unapologetically calling out the incompetence of the Council straightforward and how not only have failed to create a plan to deal with this sort of thing over all these years, but that they have completely forgotten that there are other characters who are in deep shit because of the impending villian threat. We already saw how quick they were to just give up on the Jungle Cruise expedition, practically saying that everyone there is on their own.

Whether or not LL's thought actually resonated with who heard them, that's yet to be shown since nobody addressed the big observation she dropped on everyone there for the rest of that entire scene.

I really enjoy how you handled the Ghost Host. I really love how you avoided giving him a physical body and kept him as this disembodied deep voice. It's a lot more fun to imagine him doing all this stuff and it makes him feel a lot more powerful since it feels like he can be everywhere at everytime.

Why I'm really hyped about this series though is that it takes place in the past. The past is such a huge element in this universe that's been shrouded in mystery. And this is a HUGE pivotal time because at this point, Walt is already dead and he died recently so the Mains are likely still dealing with the shock of that. We all know Cindy was.

To my knowledge, none of the inhabitants of the Haunted Mansion know who he is. Maybe the Ghost Host cause he knows about the whole "We're giving tours to mortals." thing, but that's a BIG if.

Nowadays you won't get much answers from the Mains, especially the Classics cause it seems like they make an effort to cover it up and act like they've moved on...despite that era leaving lasting impact on how things are handled BUT that's a topic for another day.

Then again, I can't expect all Classics to have the same mindset. There's definitely some who are also trying to discover more things instead of accepting life how it is. If you'd ask me, I say Brer Rabbit would be one of those people. He'd probably tell you anything you wanted if you'd ask.

I'm super hyped and also anxious to see how LL handles meeting the Mains. I know that the focus isn't on them and that's not a complaint. The Haunted Mansion already leaves a lot of things to explore and think about as well as getting to know the wide assortment of the inhabitants of the mansion. But since she's coming in at a time where everything took a sharp drop for the mains, I'm interested to see how their actions will effect LL. Also because it's been stated in The Happiest Place that LL has been with the Council for years up until Jack Skellington came and she willingly gave up the position to him.

I feel like just by seeing which people have been changed around in the Council would already give a big idea of how things are going outside the Mansion. And again, LL has to make sure this mansion doesn't fall into chaos, she doesn't have time dealing with that train wreck that's the Council. But she likely feels that she's obligated to be there because if she leaves for just one second, the council could make a decision that ends up fucking over the Mansion.

But I can feel for a good fact that after the War was over, she was PISSED.

I'm interested to see where this goes since you're doing time skips. I hope that your work doesn't overload you and you'll be able to get through it comfortably!
