Very good chapter! Plenty of intriguing plot points that bear further investigation: The things we discover about people's lives when tragedy strikes. Jacob's wife knowing about his affair could easily have taken away Freddy's leverage. The big reveal that one of the phones belonged to or was used by Carrie is fascinating. Was she really directly involved, or is it possible she only got hold of it and was trying to call for help?
It's quite the web you've got weaved here; I'm anxious to read more.
