What a story... so many emotions, so well rendered and described... I cried a lot for many chapters, but this is a different sort of chase and misunderstanding than canon, with some heavy plotting against them! But a great story. Thank you so much.

Well, I hope the Colonel lives a very long life. If Elizabeth were to be widowed again, and AAAAGAIN misinterpret the feelings of a man for her, she would make the Guiness Book as the blindest, most incapable of reading character and sentiment person that has ever lived. So, I hope their HEA lasts forever!

Wow. I have so many mixed emotions. This was devastating and beautiful and I'll probably come back to it again and again. I'm amazed at how well you portrayed grief. I love that it wasn't the end. Loved your story and that these two found one another finally. But feel let down by Darcy's deliberate silence on his plans about Elizabeth. Thats not the Darcy we know.
Wish this ending could have come about without him having turned dark.

At last!

However, that Darcy, knowing his cousin's heart, didnt even inform his cousin of his intentions toward Elizabeth, that the Colonel had to learn of the matter indirectly and after the fact is more horrible than anything Elizabeth accused Darcy of at Hunsford! Especially since, in canon, he learnedof his selfishness from her tirade at Hunsford and learned to be better and thus worthy of her. But in this version, he still performed one last over the top bit of selfishness in pursuing her and so I doubt that he deserved her and wonder that Stephen can still feel any loyalty to him at all.

I loved this story. Elizabeth's emotions, her dealing with grief, the actions and advice of those who cares for her were all so real and touching. The self centered Fitzwilliam family members were just the right amount of trouble. Stephen is the kindest, and strongest man. Great story!

I very much enjoyed this story! Elizabeth was a bit of a ninny toward the end but I am glad her mistake didn’t get carried too far. So glad for their happy ending!

Finally! I love these two together - in fact, the Col is the only acceptable alternative to Darcy.
