Poor Matthew and Mary dealing with the presents and the ghosts of the past at the same time.

Very good moment with Matthew being honest with the boys while giving them an edited version and the boys realising Matthew's pain.

Mary also handed it very well. Talking to Matthew before was necessary.

Initially, I was confused by Uncle Charles. It makes sense the girls are almost mother-father figures to them because of the age difference.

Your deep knowledge of the period adds great details like the comics they read and the Land Girls.

i am so glad that someone is still writing M/M fic. I love the interactions between M/M and their children and the respect that they show them. However, i would love to read more young M/M!

Just loved this chapter! It’s always wonderful seeing Mary and Matthew with their children, and their interaction with the boys was very special. Love Mary’s sympathetic yet careful reaction to the boys finding the VC. And then Matthew’s time with them. So poignant, especially knowing how little he is there, and that George will be leaving. His explanation of what he went through was so beautifully and thoughtfully rendered. Looking forward to the next chapter!

Awwww, Matthew as a doting father to his sons (as the show should have given us but never truly did) - love it! And yet, oddly enough, I think my favorite line in this chapter was used to describe them through the eyes of Mary: "They had been inexplicably the opposite of their usual boisterous selves so she assumed they were up to some mischief." Very enjoyable - thank you!

Cécile is clearly his favorite. I am glad that Matthew didn't allowed a full interrogation. She is still their father.

I loved the remark that it was a week before marriage.

I think Matthew was honest and reassuring with Isabella. Mary was right to warn him. On one hand, great that they support and trust their parents. Still, awkward to talk about your affair to your parents even if you are a grown up.
