A colleague of my sister's actually got engaged to a woman he had had a one night stand with, who told him she was pregnant with his baby... he was feeling so guilty, he was drunk and he really thought he had used a condom but he couldn't remember that night very clearly... then she showed up and he believed her.. one month before the wedding my dad asked him if she had taken any test to know she was pregnant

so he brought her to have her blood tested and she wasn't pregnant! when he asked her what she was going to do when it became obvious that she wasn't up the duff she told him: "I would have faked a miscarriage"...

well you can imagine, we never saw her again...

I liked the relationship you described between Severus and Hermione.. It is quite plausible...
