Ummm... I'm really loving this fic. One question though, how is this Indiana Jones? Am I missing something?

This is awesome. Brilliant lampshading of the cultural superiority complex embedded in the original films.

(There are, of course, genuine controversies to be explored here: what if the country of origin is politically unstable or otherwise unable to guarantee the artifact's safety? What if the artifact that the locals claim as their own actually belongs to an unrelated older culture? That said, your core concept has more than enough awesome for one fic.)
