Oh my goodness! I am near tears! This is so beautiful and bitter and, gah! How I love this! It wasn't until I understood that the fourteen were just fourteen why you had changed the name for the Battle of Five Armies to Four. Because Dain never came.

Oh wow. This...this would've changed so much in the story. Can you imagine? Gimli is the last dwarf - young at least. Goodness. My heart is clenching at the mere thought of it. I'm so glad Tolkien didn't go this route. Not that I didn't enjoy every angstful second, but...well...I want lil' mini Gimli's running around with Uncle Legolas.

I really do love the theme of what legacy the dwarves will leave behind here - when all else is gone, they can only leave their works and stories, but what once was isn't necessarily what has to be. Nice job!
