I wasn't sure if someone could pull off a decent story about Lucifer and a baby, but this was wonderful! You had me laughing aloud. I thought you might stick to pure comedy, but then you surprised me, delightfully, by taking a deeper turn and revealing that Agnes was another miracle baby. I like how you have Luci mulling that over throughout the rest of the story.
Then I burst out laughing again with Lucie wanting to haul Chloe over to Linda's to tell her that Chloe too was using the baby as a means to get closer.

What should have been an adorable concept was rather appalling.

It's horribly immature and irresponsible that Lucifer caring for this infant was just a joke to the LAPD team, that NO ONE questioned the competence the man who has made multiple blunt declarations of hatred for children and regarded an 8-year-old as a dog! Not even when he right then and there made a sexual joke about the infant!

Ella, I can grant a pass, being the youngest in her family and having no nieces or nephews that we are aware of but the total absence of concern and responsible instinct from Chloe and Dan, the experienced parents was inconceivable!
I wanted to slap Chloe when she just gave Lucifer quick basic diaper changing instructions and then left him to it while she just stood there laughing at him with Ella.

Then we have Linda doing more judgmental and harassing than counseling when she accuses Lucifer of using the infant to spend time with Chloe with no consideration for his legit need for Chloe's help.
She even straight-up dismisses the red flags when he does not just argue the point bluntly but demonstrates it when he tells her that he'd made a more explicit assumption of the infant's teething behavior.
There wasn't a single "are you sure you can handle this?" or suggestion that he turn the infant over to someone more experienced!

I didn't understand the reason the infant wasn't comfortable Chloe or Dan, I disagree with the canon divergence that "miracle" children bestowed by blessings were commonplace and that Lucifer behaved defensively with the social worker but seemed to have no problem handing the infant over to a man who addressed her by an unfamiliar name was a significant inconsistency.

This isn't entirely personal, there is an episode of 'Bones' that uses a similar plot with identical flaws and that annoyed me as well.

On a positive note, there was still some cuteness in both the 'Bones' episode and this fic.

This is lovely. I like that it gives a different, perhaps less traumatic reveal of Chloe’s “miracle” origins. The reactions, including Lucifer’s, are amusing and wonderfully in character. The sad reason why Agnes was temporarily in their lives was balanced by the odd, fundamental kindness we saw in Lucifer’s time with her. The story ended nicely with him and Chloe together and the promise that he’ll explain things to her soon. Thank you for sharing this.
