This is what makes me fall in love with your stories, Carol. Beautiful story with a sweet sweet end. I'm at loss of my words, somehow this story made me feel from anguish to that little excitement for their happy future.

The couple are simple, they aren't some well know or famous people but a simple yet extraordinary couple. Their chemistry was so palpable, it's surprising that it took Damon so long to understand how much importance Elena holds in his life.

I'm glad that Elena took that step to safeguard her heart and move on from the yearly meeting and few days of love with no promises; if not for this then the only other option. for Damon to realize was some coconuts being knocked over his head.

He unknowingly loved her a lot and was so jealous that he was ready to end this race thingy ashe couldn't muster his courage to watch Elena probably in someone else's arms, engaged or married or even with couple of kids which aren't his.

I'm more than glad, some crazy epiphany struck him in his hotel and he left for his girl and confessed his desire to her.

Drinking himself into oblivion should have been even quicker indicator of how much impact Elena has on him but better late than never and our boy understood his girl's importance on hiw own.

I really hope that maybe in some near future you do a sequel of this beautiful story and show us few more glimpses into these crazily amazing couple. :D
