I had originally abandoned this fic, due to the first chapter. It just felt a bit cliche to me, but I kept hearing this fic talked about on Reddit, so I decided to give it a second chance. The jury's still out, but this fic has been pretty good so far and I'm glad I decided to give it another go. Definitely surprised to see Voldemort resurrected in the first year. I'm curious to see what's next, and excited for the bloodshed!

I must have missed it in a previous chapter when did he get his father's cloak.

I think this was a pretty good explanation of the dark arts. Another one I like is that dark magic is fueled by intent, while light magic is based on emotions-the fic Diablerie by Oceanbreeze7 on Ao3 mentions this.

Your definitions of dark arts is super easy to understand, and makes a ton of sense! Its really easy to read, and I can show my 10 year old brother it and trust that he can understand it!

It’s an alright storyline, but you need to iron out some grammar.

Hopefully Harry will take Snape’s words to heart. I Wes getting tired of his allowing himself to feel guilty.

This chapter is a **GOLD MINE** - especially for anyone writing a Dark fic, in particular.

This doesn’t bode well. Harry’s looking to end up as more of a servant than the served, and his ‘dark’ tendencies seem to be wildly inconsistent. At first it was just angry guilt, that I could understand with his darker thoughts. But then it suddenly became something he cried about, seemingly out of nowhere for no apparent reason. Then he accepted it. Then he cried about it again. Then he ‘fully’ accepted it. Then he cried, again. Then he once again accepted it. Now, he seems ashamed of it again but oddly is infatuated with the idea of an undeniably crazy old hag who got off on torturing people. How does that make sense? Not to mention that the observant and keen kid conveniently misses EVERY hint that Voldemort’s lackeys give (Quirrel’s personality shift, Draco’s blatant lie about his father’s willingness, Lucius’ own obvious bloodlust and complete lack of aversion to the idea of muggle hunting..) which could stop him trusting them and becoming a weak follower. That’s just bad writing, that is.

I’m enjoying this. Harry’s not perfect. He’s not evil, yet. He’s far from altruistic. There’s a lot of room for growth both ways and even more room for growth when it comes to his magical ability. I like that. But I can’t wait until he kills Draco, little twat annoys me.

I’ve read too many stories where dark-Harry is gay, and considering the link between underage assault and homosexuality, I’ve got a feeling this will be the same. Hopefully it’s not. While I don’t have a problem with gay people, I don’t particularly enjoy reading stories about it, especially not when it stems from the abuse they suffered.

Just a personal thing, but it’s always bothered me when someone looks ‘exactly’ like one of their parents. If I looked like my dad and some girl was really interested in my looks, it’d make me uncomfortable cause it’s essentially her having the hots for my dad. It’d just be the physical attraction that would bother me, but it’d bother me nonetheless.
