twi-fic luver chapter 1 . 5/25
This is really good! I'm a bit skeptical about Malfoy completely giving up on sex and telling Harry that he can do without, but I appreciate his understanding of the situation. Props to Hermione for educating people upon request about topics that really should be made common knowledge! I'm impressed by the fact that Draco evidently internalized the book; it did seem a bit off when he was talking to Harry about it (a little like he was showing off his new knowledge solely for Harry's benefit, which I know is the only thing he cares about anyway). It's kind of off-putting to me, but I guess if he's genuine about making a go at it, and he really does understand what he's read and what he's done wrong in the past, then it's ok?

Also, good on you for tackling asexuality! "The Invisible Orientation", indeed! I've never read fiction that addressed ace/aro at all, and it's always a pleasant surprise when I come across anything that isn't purely cis/hetero. Kind of reminds me of how well Rick Riordan wrote Alex. :)

I hope you are able to return to this at some point to update - I'd keep reading!
Heathenkeyboards chapter 1 . 4/27
Oh my gosh, this was wonderful, awkward, and hilarious all at the same time! Draco being an insistent ass and Harry being SO done about everything was great. I just wanted to shake Draco and tell him to turn around and run for the hills!
Wedylai chapter 1 . 11/14/2019
This made me so happy. I'm asexual and there just rlly isn't much awareness of it. I've come out as asexual and there are mixed reactions. I could go into a whole thing on this issue, but just know I enjoyed every bit of this. It did a good job of covering the difference facets of asexuality while flipping the whole veela mate plot. Plus the actual social punishment for sexual assault was good to see in a fix as well. Great writing and characters, all of it was lovely

️️️️️️ thank you so much for showing asexuals in a good way! I feel exactly like Harry and i feel like this is the first time I've seen that part of me represented well! I'm actually tearing up! thank you so much

Very interesting start, hoping to see another update on the story. So well written and it's an interesting quizz on Wizarding Society.

I don't see it often, but I adore encountering an asexual Harry. It fits easily enough into canon minus the epilogue, since any hormones he may have had were almost entirely ignored in how it was written except for small crushes and Ginny, which even then wasn't really, well, snog-heavy or anything. I guess there's a bit of the "seeing someone like me in media" phenomena happening there too.
I think the other example than this I've seen that stuck with me best, was also a short "what if Ron was born female" aspect, and the result of all of this was that very little had changed due to that, everyone has a different story about how the Golden Trio were hooking up, and in reality Harry was completely Ace but had fun helping his two best friends mask their lesbian relationship by helping stir up the rumors every so often. By graduation he was so comfortable with them he spent a lot of time getting included in cuddles and casual use-of-person-as-pillow behavior with his girls, part of the reason there were so many rumors to start with. That and girl-Ron being exactly as unconcerned with propriety as regular Ron, since childhood, and thus a lot of behavior with her affection-deprived best friend that has implications when she is known as female, technically. The whole trio was having fun with the rumor mill, actually, which was also pleasing. Better to enjoy causing chaos than suffer at it's mercy.
It's quite interesting, seeing how strongly the revelation affected Draco's fantasies and obsession despite his heritage. He really is crushing hard of Harrykins, isn't he? It's kind of sweet now that it's so ingrained into his head that there is No Sex involved or will be ever. I think he needs to learn to focus on the "getting to know you" and "friendship" parts for a while, without mentioning mating, if he wants his best chances to succeed. When sex is removed entirely from the equation, romantic and platonic couples aren't obviously different to some people. A lot of the foundation is the same as a really strong and close friendship might be. My best friend has outright said in recent times to other people that the reason he and I have never dated is because I've always been notably non-sexual even before we had an adequate description to use the label asexual, and he has a very healthy libido. Very healthy. I'm pleased to not need to know much more than that specifically, though I have learned rather a lot (intellectually) about a lot of sex-related things thanks to him and a few other rather open friends.
With such a potent connection as Draco is certain of, I wonder if even a Veela can end up with a diminished sex drive? Not being biologically pressured to do loads of sex-things, just sometimes needing a wank? It's certainly sounding a little bit like it.
I could see Harry being willing to consider alternative methods of having kids someday if he had a life-partner he loved to share them with, though I'm not sure he'd be willing to carry them himself even if there is an equivalent of In Vitro Fertilisation or surrogacy in the Magical World meaning no actual sex. (Can't just go do it muggle when the carrier is male.) Kids means Family, after all. Might need to be pushed into adopting one he already fell in parental-love with first, to get the idea as viable in his head.
I wonder if they i/do/i have a magical-IVF? There are ways for any combination of partners to "do it", so I'm not sure it's necessary, but it's an interesting thought. Same with surrogacy - it's hard to tell what they are advanced and enlightened in and what is nigh-medieval. IVF surrogates, or quietly approved mistresses for the same purpose and the old-fashioned method? I'm sure there is some sort of established practice for that need, since people do get injured and magic can't fix everything. I can't see i/everyone/i being willing to separate from a spouse they love just because they can't safely carry a baby anymore, or resigning themselves to childlessness. Especially if they have the money to put into alternative options. With magic involved, the idea that there could be ways to work around health issues in such a way should occur to people regularly enough for something to have come of the idea! Even if some people disdain it!

Draco is somewhat good at this actually.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR BEING AWESOME! ! ! ! !
CassBerry chapter 1 . 9/13/2018
This was a crazy good interpretation of asexuality and I loved it. I loved that Harry was affected by the allure at all because, duh, allure is sexual energy and he doesn't have time for that!

I kind of want them to date just to show that romance and sexuality are different things and I rarely see fics were an asexual person is in a loving relationship. However I don't see it happening between Draco and Harry just because I feel that Draco is never gonna get that sex is just never an option. I know at the end there his fantasies changed but they are just too different kinds of people and I don't see it working out in the long run.

Wow I feel like I analysed this way too far but it's such a great story I felt like I needed to show my love for it! Hoping for another chapter.
Guest chapter 1 . 8/19/2018
Ermahgersh, thank you so much for representing us so accurately! As an asexual, I often find that other people are bloody idiots about the subject and don’t get it at all. I have had family tell me that I should see a doctor about it, or that I should just suck up and deal with it in order to have a partner. So the fact that you represented asexuals in the way you did was amazing.
