this is so good omg! i really appreciate xavier being such an important part of the story, I think he and varian have such potential in the show and it's nice to see it brought out so prominently and well-done. i hope this will be continued!

I'll just make something very clear.

Gauze in the Wound is my favorite Tangled fanfic and one of my favorite fanfics of all I've read. Your other drabbles are great too, but Gauze in the Wound gets all the applause.

Varian has to be my favorite animated character of all time. This story is just what I wanted to see in him in the series.

I'm sure everyone had wanted to see Varian with blue hair, there were even theories about it (the lock of blue hair, his closeness to the rocks, his father's secrets, etc). It would have been incredible, but the series had other plans.

His life in prison and with Xavier is simply wonderful and beautiful. Seeing a broken Varian was difficult and depressing, but it took development to talk to others again, and even trust Arianna.

Xavier was another thing that fascinated me in this story. He fulfills the role of Uncle Iroh perfectly. He is what Varian needed.

Another thing I liked was Frederic. He is one of the characters that I like the least in the series, but here, I loved it from start to finish. That thought of feeling useless and wanting to contribute something was incredible and something worthy of respect.

Your OCs are also great. Sabine reminds me a lot of Soothsayer in Kung Fu Panda 2.

Tangled is done, and we never saw Varian with blue hair, instead we had Cassandra in place with the Moonstone.

It seems like you plan to use your own elements to continue your story, away from the story in the series. That seems better to me, but at least you have canon information about some elements, like the Third and Fourth Incarnation, Zhan Tiri, etc.

I'd still like to see Rapunzel, Eugene and Cassandra returned. I want to see them face the new and more powerful Varian.

Right now, I imagine a version of Nothing Left to Lose (my favorite song in the series), with Varian and Cassandra, only changing roles

I want to see what Varian will do next, now that he escaped from Xavier and Arianna, on his way back to Old Corona.

I hope you continue this wonderful story. I will look forward to the next chapter.

Don’t worry, I did latin for 3 years (I know, I torture myself) and despite being clumsy in that google translate way (they use the right words but Latin has variants for the context) it was a solid translation. :)
Also, I really love all these drabbles so far, they’re so well written, I’m binging these lowkey. Some parts are actually painful to read - in a good way - but like a car crash I could not stop.

Kay, so this chapter was really good, but my nerves were not made for this. I mean damn.
When Varian drugged Ruddiger I almost cried ;.; that was so sad :"(. Whyyyyy?

And then when Varian held the queen hostage /again/, I just legit screamed, and then just went: awwww hell no!

Okay so I guess the not-Demanitus dude tricked him into doing something with the mirrors, some spell, so that he could possess him, and lock the Real Varian away somewhere? And if that's what happened, then on one hand, great! Because that would mean that it wasn't Varian who hurt Sabine, and the Queen and pissed off the King, but on the other not so great, 'cause now they have to realise what's going on even if Ruddiger somehow tells them, and then they have to change them back. And until then, we have a moon powered lunatic going around with a magic sword. Fun times!

I was just suffering through a crash course video trying to study and u have no idea the happiness I felt when I saw GitW had updated! Is it normal that I read Varian's angry rant (which is beautifully written btw) in Jeremy Jordan's "angry" voice? I'm so glad Varian is back in both the show and now my favorite fanfiction too!
