According to an interview with Joss, he originally planned to kill of Xander and have the First use his form through the rest of season seven but then changed his mind as it seemed like a horrible thing to do to the one character that never turned their back on the duty of protecting Sunnydale.

Sorry to bother, but if you could, would you please write a sequel? I love where you are going with this and every once in a while I have to re-read it and I always think: I wish I could see peoples reaction to finding out he's the First. I have always thought that, while Xander can be a jerk at times, he was under appreciated and has enough darkness in him that him getting fed up with it could result in bad things. You went above and beyond bad things, you went to an even better idea and I would love to see more. Thank you, Shadow.

Wow, that was great. I can't quite work out how to interpret it though. i figure you meant that Xander has always been the first, but I think it would also be interesting for Xander to have died somewhere along the line and the First be impersonating him.

Actually I tend to find that some of the best fanfiction pieces are written when the writer is at least partially 'mentally incapacitated'.

i think you could add more to this, maybe have Xander's parents abusing him, add that with his friends not noticing, you would have a very dark Xander.

this is a Dark Xander that i love, hiding in the shadows, waiting, playing the white-hats!

if you do add more, would Spike find out? what kind of parings would there be?
